Afgelopen jaren werd OpenKAT als open source project samen met de OpenKAT-community gebouwd door het Ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport. Het komend halfjaar wordt gezocht naar een nieuwe governancestructuur voor de tool waar OpenKAT vanaf 2026 terecht kan.
