#EdTechEthics questions to ask yourself (especially if you are in #HigherEd or #EdTech):
Are we actually promoting learning, or are we merely promoting behaviorism, control, dominance and surveillance?
Are we promoting insight, mastery, citizenry, critical thinking and discourse, or are we merely promoting teaching, cramming, testing, submission and obedience?

Much of #EdTech has made itself into part of the problem - instead of becoming part of the solution.
Sadly.

@HillOBeans Interesting! Which ones do you intuitively disagree with?
I am not asking to then "discuss" with you. It's that I am seriously thinking about writing on the topic of #EdTechEthics, and I am also thinking of talking about the matter at conferences. So I am curious to see which points resonated with you, and which did not.
If we aspired to #EdTechEthics, then our #EdTech products would NOT
1 feature behavior tracking and do massive data collection (a.k.a. surveillance)
2 feature "analytics"
3 feature much testing of learners
4 use explanatory videos
5 promote bite-sized content or "micro-learning" (because learners do not have tiny brains)
6 allow for learner coercion
This list is not meant to be exhaustive.

Another question for ppl who came here recently (and some returning after coming a few years ago):
A. What are your fears for Twitter that led you here?
B. What are your aspirations for Mastodon?
C. What has your experience with Mastodon been so far (esp compared to your aspirations)?
