Interview met Michel Don Michaloliákos, docent Bestuurskunde aan de Universiteit Leiden over hoe Kabinet Schoof het hoger onderwijs sloopt. Na de 1.1 miljard bezuinigingen op hoger onderwijs, kondigde het kabinet nu ook een half miljard bezuinigingen op het lager en middelbaar onderwijs aan.

(3/3) Dat juist de sociale en #geesteswetenschappen een bron zijn van maatschappijkritiek maakt ze niet inherent links. Dat is omdat 'rechts' aan de knoppen zit en het ónze taak is kritisch te zijn op machtspatronen. Met de lijstjes verboden woorden die in de VS rondgaan in het achterhoofd vind ik dit een heel, heel enge ontwikkeling. Ik snap de term #eppocalyps nu pas echt goed.

On Monday morning, our minister of education, Eppo Bruins, announced that despite the budget cuts, "we can still do a lot", and that the cabinet is investing 17.6 million euro in biotechnology.

I am also excited about the projects that will get funded by that money, but obviously 17.6 euros is nothing compared to 1 billion.
