Time-travelling estate agent from Cwmbran wins hearts in bestselling sequel

A fictional estate agent from Cwmbran is fast becoming one of the UK’s most beloved time travellers — thanks to a garage-based portal, a second chance at teenage heartbreak, and a shiny suit that’s seen better decades.

Eric Meek, the central character in Dale Bradford’s Time-Travelling Estate Agent series, has struck a chord with readers across the country. The first book, released in November 2024, has remained in Amazon’s Top 30 Time Travel Books, and its newly released sequel is now climbing the same chart — with 100% of reviewers awarding it four or five stars.

Set in Cwmbran, where Bradford was born and raised, the series follows Eric — a 60-year-old estate agent dissatisfied with how his life turned out — who stumbles upon a portal in a client’s garage that allows him to travel back to 3 July 1976, the best and worst day of his youth. What begins as a personal quest to rewrite his own past soon evolves into a mission to solve mysteries and help others, blending sci-fi, whodunnit, and mismatched romance in a tone that’s been compared to Goodnight Sweetheart, Groundhog Day, and 50 First Dates.

“Eric has proven to be a very popular character,” said Bradford. “Following the BBC Panorama broadcast and the Sell House Fast study, he might even be helping to improve the public’s view of the profession.”

In the sequel, Eric returns to the long hot summer of ’76 — not just for a quick visit, but to live in the past, find work, and navigate a new cast of characters while investigating the mysterious death of a local band called The Faith. The story deepens Eric’s emotional journey while keeping the humour and heart that made the first book a hit.

Bradford, who now lives in Newport, previously edited two long-running B2B magazines — Indie Magazine and Erotic Trade Only — and published a non-fiction book in 2023 titled From Sex Shops To Supermarkets, exploring the rise of the adult toy industry. He now writes full time, with the third and final instalment of the Time-Travelling Estate Agent trilogy due in early 2026.

South West Wales’ fastest and slowest house sale postcodes revealed

A new speed of sale tool has revealed that it’s taking an average of 18.45 weeks to sell a property across the SA postcode area in South West Wales.

Updated monthly, the latest dataset analysed over 721 property sales across the region between March 2024 and March 2025.

Properties were selling the fastest in Llanelli (SA15), Milford Haven (SA73) and Ammanford (SA18) adopting a minimum number of 10 property sales in a given area.

In the top 10 areas homes took 114.10 days (16.30 weeks) to sell on average.

The statistics track the moment a property is listed to the point it’s marked as officially ‘sold’ at the HM Land Registry.

Homes were selling the slowest in the Pembroke Dock (SA72), Pontardawe (SA8) and Narberth (SA67) postcodes (also sampling a minimum data set of 10 property sales). In the bottom 10 postcodes, the data showed that properties were taking 145.30 days (20.76 weeks) to sell on average.

Ruban Selvanayagam of Property Solvers commented: “While Swansea’s sale times remain in line with historical trends, there are encouraging signs that greater adoption of tech-driven efficiencies by industry stakeholders will help reduce transaction lengths. A key example is improving the accessibility and transparency of property-related data, making transactions more seamless.”

The co-founder of the sell house fast company concludes: “it’s also worth noting that many buyers have been pushing for their transactions to complete before 1st April given the reintroduction of the 2% Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) band.”
