Anyone here involved in the #EuroStack initiative? I worked for nine years for a company that used AWS and Azure and I'd love the opportunity to help create something not so dependent on US tech companies. (I'm based in the Netherlands.)

The #EuropeanCommission supports multi-country projects with a programme called European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (EDIC). On 13 June already, France mentioned the "Digital Commons" #EDIC currently in the making, which in principle could also support a sovereign operating system such as #EU_OS.
The EDIC should be launched this summer with France 🇫🇷, Germany 🇩🇪, Netherlands 🇳🇱 , Italy 🇮🇹 and Slovenia 🇸🇮! 🥳

I'm only an hour into the conference but am a bit worried already about the #DigitalSovereignty topic to be -- again -- mostly discussed as a geopolitical issue like the #EuroStack rather than from a user freedom and individual autonomy angle. Let's see where the discussion goes...

Well, the issue might be that there are 3 different "euro-stack" websites, so there is no clear definition of what that even is.
But sounds like all of these are similar ideas.

Die Community überschätzt wieviel Lust es in der EU gibt Alternativen vorzubereiten. Sehr wenig, denke ich. Die handvoll Projekte können sich nur wenig auf etablierte Best Practices stützen. In dieser Situation fände ich ein gemeinsames Linux in der EU angebracht - um die wenigen Kräfte effizient zu nutzen.
