Tell Congress: Oppose the Federal Concealed Carry Mandate
Lawmakers should be focused on passing policies that keep us safe—but instead, they're considering legislation that would gut life-saving gun laws.
H.R. 38 and S. 65 would create a new federal mandate that would force every state to recognize every other state's standards for carrying a concealed and loaded gun in public. This legislation puts all of our communities at risk.
The Concealed Carry Mandate would make it easy for abusers, criminals, and untrained individuals to carry hidden guns in states that wouldn't otherwise let them—the gun lobby's dream and a public safety nightmare. For example, if a man from South Carolina with a history of domestic violence went after his estranged girlfriend in New York, police couldn't stop him from carrying a loaded gun.
Urge lawmakers to vote NO.
From 2003 to 2022, more than 87,000 veterans died by gun suicide, an average of 13 veterans a day. These tragedies are preventable, and our elected leaders have a responsibility to end this devastating crisis.
The bipartisan Saving Our Veterans Lives Act is a major step forward in the fight to prevent veteran suicide. But for this bill to move forward, lawmakers need to hear from gun safety supporters.
