Update: the riot began in one unit due to a lack of food. Hungry detainees began by simply speaking up that they were hungry but as the guards escalated, so did the detainees. The riot did not spread to all units in the camp. It is unclear if the riot is ongoing and there is no word of likely retaliation by the guard, nor of victories / escapes of the detainees.

Families of the detained are reporting that there are ongoing riots inside the Everglades Concentration Camp and are calling for solidarity action at the entrance to the site. This is the second reported uprising inside the Camp since its construction on Miccosuke tribal lands in the Everglades. Other uprisings around the country have resulted in detainees escaping as well as the 🐷🧊 killing and injuring folx.

This comes as the lawsuit against the camp continues to move slowly as the two sides argue over whether or not this is funded by the Feds and therefore subject to federal environmental law.

Join the effort to pressure contractors to drop their dealings with this concentration camp by emailing solidaritysfl@proton.me

Everyone is an abolitionist, until its your "enemies" that are against the wall.
I see you, salivating to lock up the republicans, and trumpians...

Just a new prison for a new prison industrial complex, this one will be run by the people! ... for the people

Breaking news: detainees at Everglades Concentration Camp riot; guards injure at least four

Families of detainees report a major riot inside the Everglades Concentration Camp’s central detainment area. Guards struggled to regain control, using tear gas and injuring several. This is a developing story.

Anarchists in South Florida stand in full solidarity with those fighting for liberation inside the concentration camps. From Operation Al-Aqsa Flood to the Everglades Concentration Camp, the Auschwitz Prisoner Rebellion to Attica Prison Riot, liberating concentration camps by any means necessary is the only course of action left to the disappeared.

As the courts begin to place roadblocks to this concentration camp’s expansion and some operations, the cracks in the Empire are beginning to widen. May they continue to grow as revolutionaries take bold action on the inside and outside to end mass deportation, incarceration, borders, and this Empire.

Fire to the prisons, roast the pigs!!!!

Tomorrow is the International Day of Solidarity with Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners (or, simply, June 11th, because the full name is a mouthful) and we're marking the date with a fundraiser!

Last year we raised almost $900 for freedom fighters inside the prison system, and this year we're aiming to break a grand by donating net proceeds from every single sale we make in-store and online!

Every book, t-shirt, sticker, or other item you purchase Wednesday will generate funds for prisoner commissary, legal defense, and other crucial support needs.

So, grab your next read, and then, if you're local, head next door to The Odd, where BRABC is organizing a benefit concert featuring four bands, local art, and a raffle. For more information on June 11th, check out june11.noblogs.org, where you can also find a list of individuals supported by the campaign.

Political prisoner Malik Muhammad is facing repression and has been thrown in solitary confinement again!
Show him support by calling the prison and demanding his release!Malik was thrown in solitary without reason or clear rationale. He is once again being deprived of his communications, books, contact with other prisoners, and basic human needs.

Malik has been unapologetic about his principles. As punishment, Oregon Department of Corrections transferred him across state to keep him far away from regular in-person visitors and his legal representation, and has now placed him in solitary. This horrendous pattern shows that ODOC is far more concerned with shutting down political prisoners with opinions than ensuring safety, justice or reform.

But if ODOC thought this would stifle his determination, diminish his support, or deter his attorney from making trips out to Eastern Oregon, they were very much mistaken.

As much resilience as Malik continues to show, he needs our support. Being thrown in the hole is a strategy of psychological torture, cutting him off from support, essential resources and activity to fill his time.CALL SNAKE RIVER CORRECTIONAL

Absolutely love when "abolitionist" will march in the street for "police reform" "prison abolition" and community justice.
Then chant and cheer when their enemies get jail.
No jail is good
No one deserves prison
Killer cops deserve one thing only [redacted]!
Stop support state sanctioned violence and start supporting direct action!

"I wouldn't have made it this far without books. In prison, reading is not so much a means of escape as a survival mechanism. Books become tools of diverse purpose within the penitentiary; not only do they combat loneliness, but they are also barriers against isolation. Books will build you up more effectively than any time spent in the yard's weight pit, and the information they impart will protect you far better than a sharpened shiv."
—Lee Doane, as quoted by Victoria Law in "Books Through Bars: Stories From the Prison Books Movement"

Here's a recent photo we snapped of abolitionist titles being modified before being mailed to an individual incarcerated in the Southeast. Because the facility doesn't allow hardbacks, we were asked to strip the covers, which we did as carefully as we could to avoid damaging the integrity of the book spine.

Prisons take a hostile view of even the smallest forms of care and solidarity expressed for those under their control. They outright ban tens of thousands of titles, only allow books from approved retailers (or *only* Amazon), regularly delay delivery by weeks, and, increasingly, want to restrict physical books entirely, forcing prisoners to access e-books. Banning physical books is a way to further squeeze profits out of prisoners while undermining both solidarity from outside and mutual aid within facilities.

Want to make a difference and learn how people are fighting back against prison book bans? You can join Asheville Prison Books today at 1pm for a packaging party at our co-op!

A photo of books on a cutting mat. A box cutter sits on top of an open book whose cover has been cut from the spine. Beside the book are two removed dust jackets, one for "Solitary: The Inside Story of Supermax Isolation and How We Can Abolish It" by Terry A. Kupers, and one for "When Freedom Is the Question, Abolition Is the Answer: Reflections on Collective Liberation" by Bill Ayers.

He has no access to his belongings and fears that prison staff will cut off his communications.
