Tapping the #forkiverse with an ask for the first time!

I've been haunted by a song I half-remember for 10+ years now. I heard it Halloween ~2010. Every year I try to Google the few details I remember, but with AI its become impossible.

It's a kitschy, rockabilly / horrorbilly bop, and the only words I remember are: "Don't let the dead guy drive / don't let the dead guy dance with your girlfriend."

Anyone heard this before? Please, forkiverse, your my only hope!

Anyone know how to disable the notification sound for this site from the web browser? I see options for email but no notifications settings for the site itself.

I don't need to hear the little notification popping sound when I get a reply and such...

The forkiverse instance has put out some information on making the most of Mastodon and the fediverse for its members.

A few suggestions from someone, who like you, never felt comfortable trying Twitter, threads or Bsky..

- there an unofficial Quick Start guide available through @FediTips as well as numerous articles on how to use the features of Mastodon and other fediverse Activity Pub platforms

- there are some equally unofficial curated topical lists of people and groupbot accounts that you may wish to check out at @FediFollows

- boosting posts helps federate them to servers/instances that the original poster isn’t already federated with

- since there is no referral algorithm, hashtags are one of the key tools for getting your posts seen and for finding ones of interest — but please list them at the bottom of your posts instead of in the text of your message as they become annoying to those using screen readers

- there’s an accessibility-positive atmosphere here such that the majority of people add AltText to their images and many will not boost a post with an image on without an AltText description. If you don’t have the spoons yourself to add a description, use the hashtag #Alt4me to request assistance.

I remember someone in the #forkiverse asking about where to find #scientists on the Fediverse; while I can’t find that post/comment now, this is a physicist hosted on an instance that’s all about #science and scientists! @Casey, maybe this would be appealing to Forkizens/Forkiversians/the people on your instance?
