watching a #Patagonia doc and realised the 🇨🇱 Chilean flag is very similar to that of #Texas ; with the Star and the Blue section on the left extending all the way to the bottom for the American state.
The principality of 🇲🇨 #Monaco and 🇮🇩 #Indonesia flags are almost identical in case you didn't know.

The dramatic "Schwarz-Rot-Gold" flag of Germany goes back to the March Revolution of 1848, to symbolize the movement against the extant Conservative Order. It was adopted as the national flag from 1919 to 1933, and again since 1949. When the flag was first adopted in 1919, the choice was roundly criticized by conservatives, monarchists, and the far right.

Why is #Minnesota redesigning its state flag? Among the several notable reasons is because it gets flown upside down. A lot. Here it is being flown upside down today at the #DetroitLakes police department.
In 1990, this was the unofficial flag of the newly reconstituted German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. While this flag was properly representative of Mecklenburg, it of course had no meaning for the people of Vorpommern. So the next year, the state adopted a new, more boring flag, with colors acceptable to the entire state.
I've had this flag for about 30 years, but this is the first time up on a flagpole.
