I don't know if this mushroom is jet black normally or if it blackens as it gets old—it didn't *feel* old: firm and dry to the touch—but it's very cool either way 🖤

First #FungiForay of the season didn't disappoint, with a couple of new #FungiFinds for me. Easily missed, the tiny Orange Mosscaps (Rickenella fibula) were barely taller than the carpet of damp moss that they grow in.

Tiny orange mushroom, with decurrent gills, nestled in a carpet of moss. The cap extends only slightly above the moss and the cap of a second mushroom sits just in front of its base.
