#GenerationMSX

2022-12-31

@syx oh, and the reason @bitsofbas suggested to get a Japanese model if you are in the USA is mostly because those models will have a voltage closer to your native one, as European models tend to be designed for 220V or 240V.
#MSX2Plus and #turboR bring a newer VDP, which may be nice, but the amount of games that support it, is limited.
#MSXTurboR adds support for the #R800 CPU in addition to the previous generations' #Z80, which certainly can give a nice speed boost, especially in day-to-day software like file managers when browsing solid state media with large directories, but it comes with a huge price markup, and only a limited catalogue of games.

For comparison, here's the amounts of software indexed in #GenerationMSX per generation of #MSX:

  • MSX (4193)
  • #MSX2 (2972)
  • MSX2+ (145)
  • Turbo-R (179)

You can use generation-msx.nl/software/res to list all MSX2+ and turboR software indexed in #GenMSX to get an idea of what kind of games support those generations, or use the checkboxes in the sidebar to filter in/out other generations or specs.

@ljwrites
(Especially since the article it references actually mentions it's uncertain whether it's a pirate or officially licensed release...
The box on that page also does not match the one I have, which makes me wonder if this is an earlier bootleg release, or if it's a bootleg of a bootleg 😂.

Gen-MSX also has a list of releases:

Dare I ask my followers to and perhaps a couple of titles for me, so I can match them up with the right boxes and supply them to the website as alternative releases as part of my activities?

Game 1:

Game 2, likely :

Cart that likely belongs with it:

1/2 (or 3?)

box nr 1, Zemmix MSX cart.
A generic box with the Zemmix logo, Game ROM Pack label, various cartoon game characters and space ships, and a game-specific title label with Korean glyphs on the spine and front.Zemmix "ROM Pack" MSX cart nr 1, which (based on the glyphs) belongs to box nr 1.
A white cartridge with plain yellow label with blue cosmetic stripes, and title in red Korean glyphs.box nr 2, Zemina MSX cart.
A generic pink box with the Zemina logo, with on the front various unrelated game screenshots, and on the back a cartoon girl on the back of an ostrich.
The spine and front have Korean Glyphs, which probably spell out the Korean name for Nemesis III.

Dutch added label says Nemesis III (Konami, no SCC), MSX1. Old price label indicates "30,-”, which likely is in Dutch pre-Euro Guilders.

Also a Dutch label which says "Korean Import nr 61"Cart nr 2, likely belonging to box nr 2.
A generic Zemina MSX cartridge with drawings of fighter jets, and a pink sticker label with blue Korean glyphs. On the back was a letratag label "Nemesis 3".

@bitsofbas@mastodon.technology
before it's sold, it should preferably at least be dumped and its covers and release info added to . :)

Oh, and I wonder if this version has the copy protection that's mentioned on :

«There is also a form of copy protection: if an illegal copy of the game was detected, then once the player entered the church, instead of "Ave Maria" playing, a voice would cry "Pirata!" (Spanish for "pirate") ten times in descending tones before the game crashed.»
