Not sure how interesting this'll be but it's my birthday so I'm feeling a bit sentimental. This was the demo tape that my grandfather used to introduce me to computers on his ABC80.

A swedish made micro computer by Luxor AB featuring a Z80 cpu which had the dubious honor of being the first computer I ever used. It launched in 1978 and consistently sold until the mid 80s.

Computer itself was lost to time but it cemented a passion for technology that would last a lifetime. #retrocomputing #z80

SAA1099P Soundchip Interface for use with RC2014 systems and compatibles with the RC2014/RCbus expansion port.

Option now on the website to include issue 11 of SAM Revival magazine with the interface for a look at sound on the SAM Coupe computer (which uses the SAA1099P soundchip)

Just reading through Small Computer Monitor documentation, and in the #rc2014 section, it says that it doesn't use interrupts.

This means that if it sees a 6850, or thinks it does, my USB 6850 replacement might just work. Need to delve in to the source code to check exactly how it works though

Released in June 2020 my SID Soundchip Interface for #RC2014 hardware and compatibles also has some extra hardware built in that will be of use when using other soundchip hardware, such as my new SAA1099P soundchip interface released last weekend or the likes of Ed Brindley's YM/AY card.

It features an interrupt controller which can be set for 50, 60 or 100Hz interrupts for timing the CALLing of your music routines, to ensure the music play with the correct timing.

I've seen code examples of music players that just use fixed delay loops for approximate timing between each time the playback routine is CALLed, but when the music routine itself takes a different amount of CPU time each frame depending on what it's doing a fixed delay loop can result in a widely fluctuating playback rate.

Now that I am pretty much all moved in to #RC2014Towers I have spent some time this evening doing some of the more aesthetic stuff. Most of the assembled #RC2014 computers are now on display and the #Z80 artwork I picked up last weekend has been hung.

Tall thin Billy Bookcase from IKEA filled with RC2014 exhibits usually on display at tech events. From the top down there are 4 Mini II Picasso kits. An RC2014 branded HDMI screen, a Pixel Purse screen with the Mini After Dark next to it and a one-off Picasso prototype. Below that is the RCade then the RC2014 Pro Pride, an RC2014 Zed in a Blue Box enclosure, and finally a Mini II with Dual Paddle Analogue Module and NeoPixel Matrix display in the Pot Noodle based Etch-a-Sketchy enclosure.
