Does anyone know where I can buy a #Z80 chip in the UK? I'm looking for a Z84C0010PEG but can't find it anywhere 🙁

Clearing out the loft (as you do on a Bank Holiday Monday - Happy Europe Day!) and I came across a 5.25" floppy from 1981 ... full of the first programs I ever wrote on an RM380Z.

I thought it had been thrown away years ago so I'm very pleased to see it again.

It is highly likely to be unreadable as it is very warped and a little damp.

Back to fun platforms to port my #Vezza #Infocom #Zmachine interpreter - this time it's the Enterprise 128. A 4MHz #z80 machine from the mid 80s, it has a great emulator, and a bespoke DOS known as IS-DOS, with a lot of compatibility with both CP/M 2.2 and #MSXDOS. While it needed quite some tweaking, a lot of the heavy lifting was done with my original #MSX version before it was optimised. As I understand, the #Enterprise128 didn't have a great library of games for it, so hoping this helps! Приветствую всех! Многие из нас помнят три самых популярных девайса производства кооперативов: конвертеры PAL->SECAM, компьютеры ZX Spectrum и телефоны с АОН. Последние появились где-то в конце восьмидесятых, а к середине девяностых были широко распространены и встречались практически у всех. Вокруг этих девайсов было своё сообщество, у них были свои любители и свои разработчики, прямо как у отечественных персональных компьютеров на схожей элементной базе. В современных телефонных сетях такие АОНы уже давно не работают, да и городских телефонов сейчас уже у многих в принципе нет. Самое подходящее время для того, чтобы раздобыть такой телефон и немного поиграться. Итак, в сегодняшней статье поговорим про то, как работали такие девайсы. Заодно рассмотрим парочку их представителей, увидим их в работе и заставим их что-то отображать спустя столько лет после ухода в историю «тех» АТС. Традиционно будет много интересного.

Today's little project. A 256 byte monitor for Z80 machines that can run without any RAM, and lets you play with I/O and memory or run code.
It's for those annoying bring up jobs when you are trying to debug new hardware but ialso designed so that you can jump to it with HL loaded with a message to print so you could use it for example as a fallback when your boot firmware self test fails.

Another wet weekend, another #Vezza release! I was asked to adapt my #Infocom interpreter to another platform - this time the #SinclarQL. An interesting request as it uses a #Motorola 68008 CPU, however, it does have the ability to emulate a #z80 on #CP/M. I was given some pointers on which versions worked to some extent, along with some documentation. Fast forward a few days and I had adapted one of the VT52 versions crossed with other features, and now #Sinclair QL users can enjoy in CP/M mode their #Inform #ZMachine adventures. Yes, there's a native terp as well, however, this was only a few days worth of massaging to get it to work on the SUCCESS CP/M Emulator - the proof is in the screen shots. This rings true. I jumped to Linux in 1996 (regretting only the loss of Paint Shop Pro in the process) and I now spend some of my time disassembling old terminal and arcade code and writing #Z80 assembler for my Link 480Z. #retrocomputing
