#PhotoOfTheDay is of my first farm-fresh post vise restoration job. I later replaced this vise with another slightly larger one, for which I also did a complete restoration. This one then went to a friend's son.

#PhotoOfTheDay One of my railroad spike bottle openers in progress, with a twisted cube pattern. This one is still one of two bottle openers that I kept and still use regularly. Most others were given away as gifts. I should go back to doing that.

A worked, hot railroad spike with a twist pattern glows hottest from within as it lies on a scarred 160-year old anvil.

Fun with railroad spikes. #blacksmithing #HeatBeatRepeat

A railroad spike knife.A railroad spike bottle opener resting on some simple non-riveted chain mail. I made the bottle opener, but not the mail.Another railroad spike bottle opener, this one with a more intricate cube twist variation for a more industrial look.

#Blacksmithing completed, along with some extra work I wasn't expecting. #HeatBeatRepeat

It's a lovely 72ºF outside, so naturally I am inside working in front of a 1600ºF forge... Photo of tongs holding a project piece of metal in a lit forge. My plan for a tool hanger for the 6lb.(!) Foredom tool motor wasn't strong enough, so I pivoted and made another out of thicker 1/2" round stock... Photo of bending steel tool hanger. Most of this afternoon's blacksmithing project pieces on the cooling rack.I always like when my anvil gets covered in metal scale. It tells me that I've been productive!... Image of an anvil with scale on it. Predictable, really.
