Voor mijn eindexamen Technicus Hout en Restauratie aan het Talland College heb ik een poort uit 1900 gerestaureerd en weer teruggeplaatst tussen twee scheefgezakte panden. Vorige week was de presentatie daarvan op school voor de examencommissie. En afgelopen weekend heb ik de poort samen met een leraar pas gemaakt op locatie.

Forging is done on this piece.

Once again, this crappy truck leaf spring split as I was drawing out the blade. I've electric-welded the split but I'm not happy about it. Thus, after re-drifting the eye, I declared it done, despite it being a bit rough. No point spending too much time on this if it might fail in testing.

It's cooling now, then I'll do a grind, make a shaft and test it on some wood. The eye ended up unevenly placed, so it might end up being a side-axe yet.

New project this arvo. A bearded axe, since I still had a chunk of truck leaf spring from the last one.

I’ve stopped for the day at this point. More drawing out of the beard is required and some cleanup of the curve between the eye and the beard.

Bonjour🙂 voici le manche de marteau de forge pour un maréchal ferrant. Taillé dans du faux Acacia ou Robinier, gravé, teinté et patiné. La base du pommeau est garnie d'une petite pièce en bronze matée par un clou à tête bombée.

What on earth is this thing?
I've just finished the small hearth of a portable #forge. The box is made of wood, the hearth is made of bricks at the bottom, with a mixture of clay, the #brasque; chamotte, #charcoal powder, straw.
We'll see how it turns out

All that's left to do is finish the nozzle pipe and bellows.

Mais quelle est donc cette chose?
Je viens de finir le petit foyer d'une #forge portative. La caisse est en bois, le foyer est en briques au fond, avec un mélange d'argile, la #brasque; chamotte, poudre de #charbon, paille.
On verra bien ce que ça donne a l'usage. En plus l'argile est celui de mon jardin.
Merci à Felix des #trimatrici qui m'a donné quelques bon conseils.
Restent, le tuyau de tuyère et les soufflets a finir.
