1. “With the arrest of Alexander #Smirnov — the main source of ‘evidence’ for the impeachment of Joe #Biden — for lying to the #FBI, and all the other witnesses refuting the notion that President Biden committed any high crime or misdemeanor, could the #House inquiry get any worse for the #GOP? Maybe.”-#RickMcKee

Nikita Khrushchev and Mao Zedong with hammer and sickle, 1960
#Herblock portrays Communist China’s Mao Zedong and the Soviet Union’s Nikita Khrushchev seemingly united by the Soviet symbol of the hammer and sickle. However, by 1960, China and Russia were denouncing each other because of differences in ideology. Each leader, clenches his fist and glares at the other with a grim expression, enhanced by body language that indicates a face off between the two communist leaders.

#PuckMagazine to me is THE example of pre-WW1 illustration, and a representation of a world and international system that stopped existing in WW1. #DieMuskete Magazine is for WW1 and early interwar. #JohnHeartfield is late Interwar. #KrokodilMagazine for WW2, and #Herblock for CW.
#Herblock's work provides a great depth and variety for history of the 29th century from the Great Crash of 1929 to the election of George W Bush.

Herblock 1974
Caricature showing #Herblock painting portraits of Bill C, Ronald R, Richard N, and Joseph M, all posed nude, Clinton and McCarthy are bashful of their nudity, whereas, Reagan and Nixon strike poses of a song and dance man and a muscleman respectively, seemingly ignoring his models, Herblock paints them as he sees them; just visible on the far left is a portrait of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
#Herblock portrayed his John Q. Public figure in a gas mask, standing on a filthy planet Earth overwhelmed by toxic spills, polluted waterways, and unprecedented levels of air pollution, he was showing his support for the passage of the Clean Air A of 1970 and the creation of EPA
