On This Day 8th February 1993.

467, Lockheed C-130H Hercules, Royal Saudi Air Force, parked on the cargo ramp at Manchester Airport, 8th February 1993, on one of my rare visits over to that side of the airport, which was pretty much inaccessible without a car.
Saudi Herc's were a regular sight back then, it wasn't unknown to have 3 or 4 on the ground at once, picking up supplies from one of the British Aerospace factories in the area.

Hercules 💪🏻 for #texturetuesday

This big ass statue of Hercules (Ercole) can be found in Villa Spada. It was made by Bolognese sculptor Giacomo De Maria (1762-1838). In its full form it has Hercules standing and stomping down on a lion. I presume it's a reference the Nemean lion, the first of the 12 labours - but honestly that's just my best guess! ✨
Also, Hercules is the best Disney movie and you all can fight me on this.

Us presento el marxívol (Helleborus foetidus), una planta tòxica molt abundant a les nostres contrades.
Però, què vol dir tòxica?
Normalment quan diem que una planta és tòxica ens referim a què té un marge de seguretat estret, és a dir, que la diferència entre la dosi terapèutica i la tòxica, és molt petita, cosa que fa arriscat el seu ús.

Les seves propietats són molt semblants a les d'Helleborus niger, que no es fa a casa nostra. D'ambdues se n'empra l'arrel, que conté glucòsids cardiotònics d'acció similar als de la didalera.

S'havia emprat per a tractar problemes cardiocirculatoris, nerviosos, com a purgant enèrgic i per eliminar paràsits intestinals.
S'havia, perquè és una de les plantes a les que, degut al seu poder poc controlable, no hi ha necessitat de recórrer, tot i que és una pena que s'hagi perdut el coneixement necessari per fer-ho. Mai se sap quan pot fer falta i, qui sap com apaivagar les més poderoses, tindrà gran habilitat amb les d'ús més comú i manegable.

De totes maneres li podem seguir demanat ajut, doncs la tradició ens diu que és una herba que ajuda a reparar els desequilibris emocionals causats per la intromissió d'emocions alienes o per aquelles persones alienades sense motiu aparent. Com Heracles quan mata la seva família per la bogeria que li envia Hera i és retornat en sí pel marxívol que li dóna Antikyreus.
Aquest tipus de treball, es podria fer per exemple amb l'encens (compte igualment amb les quantitats perquè alguns principis actius es conserven al fum) o en essència floral (preparats tipus flors de bach) i tots aquells mètodes que no impliquen ingestió dels principis actius químics (ull! 👀 també pot causar irritació per contacte amb la pell i més amb les mucoses).
