Today is the 80th anniversary of the #Hiroshima bombing. I bought this watch while visiting Hiroshima and it was made in #Fukushima by the Fukushima Watch Company. Obviously this watch holds a lot of meaning to me and it felt like the right one to wear in this day. 🙏 #Hiroshima80 #watches #watchesofmastodon
This week marks 80 years since the first use of nuclear weapons in war, when the United States dropped a pair of atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9, 1945. Hundreds of thousands of civilians were killed in the bombings.#Hiroshima80 #antinuclear https://www.democracynow.org/2025/8/6/hiroshima
At a time when the world is once again shrouded in nuclear fear, it is more important than ever to reaffirm a simple truth: Weapons capable of destroying humanity must never be used again. #Hiroshima80 #Japan #antinuclear https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20250806/p2a/00m/0op/008000c

As someone from Taiwan, how the #WWII ended at Pacific battle fields has always been an important and mind bending cautionary tale for me. The Imperial Japanese Government did many genocidal acts during their campaign and colonisation. I think it is fair to say hatery towards Japanese officers in the colonies and occupied territories is quite widespread. But that doesn't mean Allies dropping atomic bombs in Hiroshima is forgivable. Evil doesn't mean you should do evil back.
Today is the grim 80th anniversary of the time when the US murdered thousands of civilians, condemned the survivors and their descendants to a life of suffering, and tried to twist it as a positive event that could not be avoided despite historical evidence that it may not have been necessary. #Hiroshima #hiroshima80
