Do you know this #chemist? He believes strongly in the power of #catalysis and of #greenchemistry and is most famous for asymmetric #hydrogenation used to form single #enantiomers that are needed as precursors for pharma and agro products. It is RYŌYI NOYORI who was awarded the #NobelPrize in chemistry in 2001 together with William S. Knowles and K. Barry Sharpless. His enlightening #autobiography will be published in the Lives in Chemistry series next summer.

want to learn more but why some hydrogenation of fat leads to trans fats and how can one select for cis fat in a partial hydrogenation of a fat to convert poly unsaturated fat to mono unsaturated fat. sorry for sounding so uninformed.
