#IBMTTS

I have a somewhat urgent question for everyone involved/using the IBMTTS/Eloquence on #NVDA #NVDASR.
I'll be writing final exams in one month, on a clean computer provided by my school. They refuse to get the voice on there, as it is not legal, and my principal complained about internet requests the driver would make. Is there a way to get the eloquence voice in a different, legal way? Don't mind the price. Can you, for example, use the voice data from Jaws somehow? I'd really appreciate answers. Thanks

Just updated my NVDA and Eloquence driver. Anyone know how to stop it from reading things with periods before commas as "hello dot," rather than just "Hello.,"? Upgraded from NVDA 2023 to the latest.

For those who use IBM TTS on Linux. Get the IBMTTS dictionaries, copy them to /var/opt/IBM/ibmtts/dict, change files like this, from Enu-main.dic to main.dct. And then it should work. Do change the rest of those files too. Root and abbreviantion. Oh yeah enu-abbr.dic should be abbreviation.dct. So: abbreviation.dct main.dct root.dct.

The string "December 4, 2023 Update" is pretty unambiguous. Put it inside a level 3 heading on a web page though, and #NVDA plus #IBMTTS announces: "Heading level December third four, 2023 Update" (when arrowing to the heading in browse mode). Clearly not NVDA's fault, but bewildering nonetheless, and not a problem exhibited by #JAWS plus #Eloquence.
