Ontario privacy commissioner releases privacy handbook for small health care organizations

Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) is a complex law with lengthy definitions and multiple obligations, making it challenging for solo practitioners and small health care organizations to meet privacy compliance requirements.

To address these challenges, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) has released the Privacy Management Handbook for Small Health Care Organizations. This resource aims to assist health information custodians with limited privacy infrastructure in developing customized privacy management programs that fit their operations.
