ik heb een tutorial geschreven over #imagetransfer op de #gelliplate
ik maak bijna elke #collage op een achtergrond van #gelliprints

gister wat mooie #gelliprints gemaakt met #ImageTransfer
My final artworks for my graded unit. A series of 4 artworks highlighting 4 of the most critically endangered species on the planet. And to raise awareness of world Endangered Species Day on 16th May. Only 10 left of the poor Vaquita ๐ข.
Collage and image transfer with gold paint on a1+ size boards.
A lot of work and i gave myself such a hard time throughout this process. I loved doing it and learned alot about the creatures during my research. Though enjoyed it but picking faults even now ๐. Such is the life of an artist i believe ๐

Not an emulsion lift but an image transfer of a Polaroid 669 or 665 film. These one is from 1993

Chaos in my homemade travelers notebook.
I took a moment to play with a #waxSeal (not entirely successfully), and then I found my #imageTransfer experiment, and suddenly, it became a fast #collage of stickers, tape, and paper scraps.
The image transfer is this image of a tree I found in an old book that was falling apart. I succeeded in transferring it onto acrylic gel medium, which I then pasted onto the cardstock. This is pretty funky because what was formerly paper is now translucent!
After a couple weeks of #imageTransfer experiments, here's what it was all for. Airport security successfully broke this glass key cabinet when I flew by repacking my suitcase in an idiotic way.
I cut a new glass piece, and transferred this dragonfly image from https://www.pictureboxblue.com/dragonfly-drawings/ using acrylic gel medium.
Then, I applied "antique gold" wax to the back with a stencil brush.
Now that I don't have to see the broken cabinet every day, I can stop feeling frustrated about that flight.
๐งต 4/5 My #imageTransfer transfer onto glass experiment conclusions. Sorry for abbreviations.
A.M = Amsterdam acrylic medium (liquid)
V = water-based varnish (generic local brand)
G.M. = Golden soft gel matte
S-G. = Golden soft gel semi-gloss
C.L.G. = Golden Clear Leveling gel
Image transfer: C.L.G. gave easiest smoothest transfer.
Harder to do evenly: A.M., G.M., S-G
Overcoat after removing paper:
A.M and G.M: paper mostly white, matte.
V, S-G, C.L.G.: translucent if paper is thin.
More #imageTransfer experiments will follow. I am starting a new thread, which I will update as I progress. (This is a very slow thread because it takes time for things to dry.)
My gel mediums arrived.
I will be trying a test using soft gel semi-gloss, soft gel matt, and clear leveling gel from Golden to try to transfer an ink jet printed image onto glass.
I tried applying it with a brush and with a sponge, and so far, sponge feels easier, so there's my first conclusion!
#MixedMedia
๐งต 1/?
More #MixedMedia #imageTransfer experiments.
Today, I did a small-scale test with leftover glass and an inkjet printer image. I used my half-dried out Golden acrylic tar gel while waiting to get my hands on fresh acrylic medium.
Tried backing it with a scrap of paper to make the print pop more. I was surprised the transferred image is so translucent that the paper (from some old book) shows too well! I'll have to use more subtle paper next time.
This time, no varnish was used, only tar gel.
Since I currently have #imageTransfer on the brain, I wanted to share the most useful link I have found thus far about different image transfer methods from paper onto various materials.
Denise talks about different possible techniques depending on what the original image type is, as well as what surfaces they can be used on.
That said, I do seem to be having success with the gel medium method and inkjet prints (on glass) despite what the link says.
