We can accurately pinpoint the date and time that British Columbia made a dramatic move to the right. On January 1st, 1922, at 6:00 am, all vehicles and streetcars finally made the switch to the right side of the road. Vancouver has the distinction of being the last city on the continent to abandon the British left-driving system. The change was driven by tourism and that new fangled pastime, the road trip.
