Der Pass verbindet Nicosia mit Gangi durch enge Serpentinen, die sich hoch zu weiten Hochplateaus öffnen. Früher zogen hier Hirten mit Vieh und Holz über die alte Trazzera, einen überlieferten Handelsweg durch die Nebrodi.
