Didn't sleep well last night but I've still been fairly productive this morning.
I've tidied the kitchen and sorted out the bags in the front garden that had the tomatoes in them.

The postman brought my London - Floris - London tee shirt!

He also brought a thumb brace I ordered on Sunday - not so useful though now my thumb is healing but already I can feel the benefit.

A real shame for all those #LEL #audax riders: event now cancelled, having initially held riders at controls. Pic/grab from a club mate who’d made it as far as Richmond.

1. The Event is Cancelled.
2) If you live locally, you are free to leave any time.
3) If you want to ride to Writtle, using the controls, you may not leave until the morning (to give us time to empty the Malton Control which is just as busy as this one.
4) Drop Bags - If you are local you can collect your Richmond bag either tonight or in the morning. All other drop bags will be transported back to Writtle.

After a total hold time of 8 hours, which I was only held for 5 due to getting the control late, LEL has been cancelled due to bad weather on the hills

@ravenbait Lots of riders at Northstowe yesterday were trying to get ahead of the storm by riding as hard and fast as possible. A minority seemed to be thinking of 'sleeping through' the worst of the weather.
It was a constant source of conversation among the Europeans, the (huge numbers of) Japanese & Indian riders seemed blissfully unaware of what might be coming.

Good morning from Cambridge!

What a strange 24 hours it's been

I got to the Cycling event control at 9am yesterday as anticipated & spent a really great day with other volunteers, helping cyclists from across the globe in their challenge to ride from London to Edinburgh & back.
The food was excellent & the weather was kind.
The riders will be facing some challenging conditions as they head north into the storm over the next couple of days.

I was aware that the car was using battery faster than I'd expected but the chargers at the control weren't working, and I struggled to find another on my way to collect Sacha from her sister's place (brain freeze from tiredness).
In the end we got a quick charge near Bishops Stortford which should get us home.

Sacha had a dreadful night with her knee and hip hurting badly - I've managed to get her a GP appointment for tomorrow

After a decent breakfast we can now head home.

I made it to Boston last night at about 1 am, had some food then headed to bed. Which was a blanket on the floor in my sleeping bag, because all the beds were taken, but I got a few solid hours of sleep, before the morning fire alarm :'D, which woke everyone. Today the plan is to get to Richmond at least. The weather is due to be nasty after there, and my ankle is giving me some trouble.

This weekend is going to be odd.

I'm volunteering on Sunday at the Northstowe control of the London Edinburgh London Audax cycling event.
But I've got to deposit my wife at her sister's place and collect her afterwards.
On Sunday night we're stopping in a Premier Inn near Cambridge to avoid the drive home when I'll be exhausted!
