Finally got around to adding a #LinkBlog page with tags on my website: https://abhinavsarkar.net/linkblog. It comes with a central #feed, and tag-wise feeds as well.

That's just insane numbers.

π RE: "Google Cloud Incident"
Google Cloud Platform suffered an outage on the 12th of June, caused by a null pointer exception in a central component. As always, the post-mortem / incident report by Google is detailed, blameless, and open which is very nice to see - I like reading through them and learning from their takeaways.

With Pocket being sunsetted (good grief, Mozilla) I switched to Raindrop as my read-it-later service.
Alas β this is a bit of a problem. Iβm already using Raindrop to power my link blog (following Sophie Kooninβs example here) and now it is a chaos. Which one is a link I saved to read later? Which one is going to the link blog? (Yes, I know. Folders. But still.)
And maybe even worse: when I move a bookmark from the βread it laterβ to the βlink blogβ pile, it retains its timestamp and will show up on my link blog in a different order than I intend it to be.
And yes, I know. I should just install Wallabag somewhere and be done with it. It wouldnβt be too hard to switch the data source for my link blog, either.

Blasta
"A federated PubSub bookmarking system for XMPP.
Blasta is a collaborative bookmarks manager for organizing online content.
It allows you to add links to your personal collection of links, to categorize them with keywords, and to share and synchronize your collection among your own software, devices, machines, and also with others.
The ability of Blasta to display to you the links that other people have collected and shared, as well as showing you who else has bookmarked a specific link is what makes Blasta a collaborative system.
You can also view the links collected by others, and subscribe to the links of people whose lists you deem to be interesting.
Blasta does not limit you to save links of certain types; you can save links of types adc, dweb, ed2k, feed, ftp, gemini, geo, gopher, http, ipfs, irc, magnet, mailto, monero, mms, news, sip, udp, xmpp and any scheme and type that you desire."

Is there something better than the "Press this" bookmarklet for #wordpress to help running a #linkblog
I want a quick way to add a bit of a comment to a link and post that as its own post on a wordpress instance. (If there is a software that does that better/easier I am willing to consider)
π RE: "A weird phrase is plaguing scientific papers β and we traced it back to a glitch in AI training data"
I asked Gemma 3 running locally about "vegetative electron microscopy" and it gave me a super long answer explaining what it is - only that it is nothing but an error in AI data.

AI training is controversial at best. If you say AI is trained fair you're either very blind to the reality of things, or very naive - or both. None of the big AI tools are trained ethically, and this example from SourceHut just shows it.
