To kind of thematically fit with @jon's #velocity2025 coverage, here's some highlights of the story of Pomerania's public bike-sharing service, #Mevo:
The wild ride started when Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area (an intercommunal cooperation org) awarded a contract for setting up the system to Nextbike. Together, they promised thousands of bikes, all of them electric, for the insanely low price of 10 PLN/month for 90 minutes a day (or 0.10 PLN/min without a subscription). O #Mevo jsem slyšel už mockrát, jen jsem jej zatím bohužel neměl osobně „v ruce“.

Zdá se to být ale docela fajn zařízení, jen pro mé užití by bylo asi trochu neflexibilní.

The app is a bit basic with no search function but maybe this will be added later on.

In #Melbourne #naarm I have a subscription to #GoGet. A car-share service where vehicles are available to borrow - but they are parked in designated spots and must be returned to the same spot.

I recently visited #Wellington and experienced #Mevo, which I think would be far more useful than GoGet and similar services. It is based on zones and allows you to park the car anywhere - making one-way trips a possibility and allowing for greater flexibility.

I'd love to see something similar.

I charged up some batteries for a gig today and charging up some MEVOs for another tomorrow.
