This is becoming extremely annoying...

A bot account named (I kid you not) @mastodon.social is now reporting inactive accounts on SDF with 0 posts and 0 interactions since Nov 2022 for 'sextortion and CSAM'.

The report has, of course, zero information, except some vague threats to report everything to law enforcement.

Sounds like someone is trying a new angle for a scam, such as: 'pay us this or we send everything to the FBI'.

Binned and reported.

So, today was a slight wave of Tesla-supporting spammers from 'social.freysa.ai' - something like 20-25 accounts suspended so far.

@SDF - could you please block this whole instance? Thanks!

For other moderators and administrators, please note this is a fairly obvious astroturf campaign - all accounts are extremely suspicious and feature AI generated profile pix and post continuously AI-generated text.

This being said, please suspend "social.freysa.ai" these guys are spamming us with badly created bots spreading a stupid message about "Gravity as Entropy".

Here is the kicker: the fact that mastodon.social is spamming the rest of the Fediverse is clearly visible in the pie chart - that big greenish chunk? That's how much their lack of moderation is costing everyone else.

You know what's cool? My account is open. People who want to follow me can without me authorizing it.

That said, the moderators have paused a few people from following me without my permission. One was a new account with only spam looking posts. The most current one was a new account with 5 followers and was following 1.7K accounts in 15 days. The posts looked like stolen images.

A brilliant shout out to my moderators on a job well done.

The vast majority of which came from mastodon.social - of course.

OK everyone, after the B.S. from mastodon.social we are now seeing a spam wave from mstdn.jp

Modus Operandi is pretty much the same every time: user name is a bunch of random letters (fczpp and ckthh for the last 2), the avatar is an anime girl and the request is to buy them a 'wearable egg' (???) along with a bunch of seriously suspect links.

SDF users: do not click on the links, click on report then block and we will take it from there.

It's times like the last 2 - 3 days with the large amount of spam that we've gotten that #AllThingsTech is certainly in need of someone who is active and a moderator.

Someone who can help handle all of the reports from those spam attacks.

Also worth mentioning, it would be nice to have a moderator who is going to actively speak about the instance and help it grow in various ways.
