After @_elena 's recent story about trolls on the fediverse I learned about the possibility to configure blocklist subscriptions on my @gotosocial instance:

In short, it is possible to automatically import curated lists of offensive domains - CSV or JSON in a specific format - and block them automatically. There are already good lists and more detailed explanations available here:

This does not take away the responsibility of taking care of moderation and administration for an instance. But for me running a single-user instance, it is a good way of reducing the noise of potentially unwanted interactions and attention.

People, who participate in moderation in the #Fediverse, how much is it normal to let people from other instances influence / dictate the moderation policies of a certain server? I understand, you wouldn't want to get defederated from most parts of the fedi, but in general, I wonder, what is the best balance to strike in a case when most of the complaints come from people on different servers, and not your own users?
