A vintage sepia photographic postcard of the Alignements du Ménec near Carnac in Brittany. A large kidney-shaped stone lies prostrate in the foreground. A short distance beyond is a man and woman beside the terminal stone of a row of many dozens of standing stones in a long line; one of several roughly parallel lines seen. The lines of stones lead off into the far distance, where a few dwellings can be seen.

A semi-modern printed postcard showing an aerial view of the impressive alignments of menhirs or standing stones at Ménec near Carnac in Brittany. Eleven rows of huge menhirs stretch for more than a kilometre across rough moorland. Fields and some small areas of woodland lie to the sides and small dwellings are dispersed around the edges. Several well-worn pathways weave amonst and about the stones.
