Thoughts: Replications and RR are on the rise, but not all are conducted appropriately, and become meaningless.

Leydesdorff: bibliometric analysis and mapping of his scientific production
This is an interesting bibliometric study of the life's work of a prominent researcher.

UKRI Metascience AI early career fellowships
https://www.ukri.org/opportunity/ukri-metascience-ai-early-career-fellowships/
Call Open today, closes 10 April 2025 4:00pm UK time
If you have the AI/ML skills and want to bolster the scale and impact of your research by plugging into the most exciting metascience team in the world, please get in touch with @RoRInstitute about us supporting your fellowship application
Is anyone doing research on how hierarchies in different fields impact the research (quality)?
My hypothesis is that the more hierarchical a field the more difficult the collaboration and the lower the quality.
Pre-announcement: UKRI Metascience AI early career fellowships
https://www.ukri.org/opportunity/ukri-metascience-ai-early-career-fellowships/
"The UK Metascience Unit will fund a cohort of early career fellows to build our understanding of:
- how the growing adoption of AI is changing the research landscape, including what metascientific, ethical, epistemic, and socioeconomic questions this raises
- how governments, industry, and funding organisations should respond"
Closes 10 April,

Researchers planning to do #SystematicReviews must now plan to filter out the #JunkScience. That's difficult, time-consuming, error-prone, and demoralizing. It causes some researchers to drop their plans and forces others to move more slowly.

In this Correspondence article in European Science Editing, Joshua Wang discusses how retractions do not just correct the scientific record, but serve as crucial datapoints that inform meta-research and research education.

Thought provoking articles on #UnansweredQuestionsInResearchAssessment - particularly taken by the call to be 'open about experiments that don't work’ and for approaches to be ‘as aligned as possible, but as diverse as necessary’.
Also a need to acknowledge the trade-off between extra time spent on assessment that increases nuance and accuracy and other uses for that time. Everyone is pretty busy so that time could otherwise be used for more research.
Would love to hear anything people want to share about the Journal of Scientific Practice and Integrity, a diamond OA journal published by Hamilton Publishing, Inc, a non-profit whose source of funds I do not know.
