TIL that there's infrastructure to run #Minix atop DOS. Well, Minix 2, anyway. I get the impression that #Minix3 breaks some of it.
It runs in DOSBox, too. The documentation says it wouldn't run together with EMM386; I haven't tried it out yet, since almost all of my need-lots-of-memory DOS experiments use XMS instead of EMS, anyway.
As many problems as (U)EFI has, I really doubt switching to Linux as your boot environment is the best idea. If you're going to have an OS boot your OS, you should really look at something tiny and designed for security and/or high availability/reliability. In Linux, these are not the primary design goals, they're additions for when people need them.
Something like #MINIX3, or perhaps #OpenBSD makes more sense, IMO.
