Building the impossible and making $100k in the first three months. #PHP #NativePHP
Posted into SYMFONY FOR THE DEVIL @symfony-for-the-devil-mobileatom
It's 2:09 AM, the last day of @phptek, can't sleep, and more importantly, I can't stop thinking about #NativePHP.
Welp, I guess it's fine to fire up a new project and play with NativePHP for a little while.
#phptek
I have used #reactnative already ten years ago to build mobile apps, today I have learned that it is now also possible to do that writing PHP with #nativephp
One downside is that I used #laravel just once for a side project, and it is not at the state of #reactnative or #flutter. But nice project and awesome someone tried it.
I did not know yet this is a thing. I am scared, curious and impressed at the same time. π
I mostly enjoyed PHP and Laravel in the past. π From a certain perspective, I see the value as enablement for developers delivering to new environments while sticking to their stack.
On the other hand, this is even further in the direction of something being used in a way it was not designed for, resulting in a whole lot of other problems. π«£

The new custom starter kit functionality from #Laravel makes getting up and running with #NativePHP too easy!

Just dropped my #ConFoo slides on 'Building Desktop Apps with PHP'! π
Covered #localfirst, #NativePHP, #PHPDesktop & built a single-binary desktop app with #FrankenPHP, #Webview & #StaticPHPCLI. Huge kudos to @simonhamp for pushing NativePHP forward! π

π Tomorrow, I'm bringing #PHP to the desktop at #ConFoo, building on my first talk!
Can we create a single-binary desktop app with #FrankenPHP & #go β without @electronjs and pluggable with WASM and Extism? π€

Besides #Laravel 12 and #PHP 8.4 support, yesterday's #NativePHP releases contained a couple of exciting new features too:
1. Custom build steps π₯

2. Notification improvements πͺπΌ

We're racing towards that v1 release!
After a 2-year conference sabbatical, I'm back on the speaker circuit! First stop: #ConFoo in Montreal.
This yearβs talks cover and include #WASM, #extism, #NativePHP, #FrankenPHP, #Golang, #PHP, #JS ... and a few surprises.

I think it's safe to say, it's gonna be a big year π
Just tagged #NativePHP v1 beta.1 π
@simonhamp As part of #NativePHP, do you maintain fully-static downloadable binaries of #PHP? If so, are these publicly available for download across a variety of platforms (i.e., Linux, macOS, BSD, Windows)?
My first #NativePHP app!
It's fantastic to create desktop apps using our preferred tools: TailwindCSS, AlpineJS, Laravel, and Livewire.
This week I..
β learned to use #MQTT
β learned to use #gRPC
β read a lot of #Electron docs
β started 3 #NativePHP app
β played a bit with APIs and #PHP #TUI
β #opensource, lots of PR, review, etc..
In short: had a lot of fun as a developer π€
