I definitely need to come up with a different way to store chat history in my #XMPP client. There are odd bugs in the way I have mine implemented where occasionally, it'll partially overwrite messages, I think? It's getting chopped off and then mis-reading it and then giving up.
I can continue to iterate and improve upon this system... one way could be to skip "bad" messages (incomplete, garbled) by scanning for the next (previous, actually) record separator and continuing from there instead of failing the whole thing. However, that means there are still "bad" messages in the middle I can no longer access, taking up disk space (until I set up cleaning and/or paging, in which it'll re-create those files from what it could read, meaning "bad" messages get skipped), so I feel like I should probably just use a different system, also to do something else instead of storing message stanzas wrapped in fake MAM stanzas.....
I also need it to be more scalable... I don't think I'm loading the whole file into memory to scan it in reverse, maybe Dart's doing that in the background despite my explicit attempts to only store one message in that buffer at a time, but maybe there's still a better way...
