@ankoeln @kattascha aber wir haben deutlich weniger Neon als eigentlich versprochen war. #neuromancer
Based on William Gibson's novel of the same name from 1984, #Neuromancer is one of the boldest projects in Apple TV+'s history, with the potential to permanently alter how sci-fi stories are told, particularly on TV. https://www.cbr.com/reasons-neuromancer-is-the-riskiest-sci-fi-show-in-tv-history/

Now that Apple is making an adaptation of Neuromancer, I was thinking.
How you image they are going to do the "The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel." ?, classic static?, pitch back? or bright blue ?
I'll be controversial and say I hope they pick blue, is unexpected but it tell us a lot of the people living in the Neuromancer universe when they see a bright blue sky and the first they think is dead channel

wowwwwwww just arrived in #Chongqing and it's like #Neuromancer irl???! 🤘🤖🤘
I'm still not far enough into the #Neuromancer book that I know what exactly "Wintermute" is or does (nothing benign I suppose), but naming a project after this is somehow creepy af

Decided to reread Gibson's #Neuromancer. The novel begins with Case, the fallen #cyberspace cowboy, down and out in #NightCity, with a tail on his ass and his deals falling apart. He tries to raise some coin hawking wares but fails: "His buyer for the three megabytes of hot RAM in the Hitachi wasn't taking calls."
3 MB. I remember reading this in the 80s and thinking what I was supposed to think -- what a shit-ton of RAM. Now in 2025 I know why the guy wasn't taking Case's calls...
After a few unsatisfying reads, lastly Peng Shepherd’s The Cartographers, and abandoning Wheel of Time, I’m going for repetition of the familiar. It’s been a decade since the last read and I first read it in 1989—but it’s time to re-read Gibson’s Sprawl trilogy. I have read almost everything he’s written and read Blue Ant numerous times.
I’m interested to see how it feels in 2025.

Man, #Neuromancer reads really different now that the meaning of #ICE has been near-completely co-opted in America.
Why do I always have the name Weyland-Yutani in my mind when I'm actually thinking of Tessier-Ashpool? (Or asked the other way round: Why do I always think that #WeylandYutani was a corporation from #Neuromancer and not from #Alien?) 🤷
I really enjoyed this! #Cyberpunk #Neuromancer I am off to read “Count Zero” 🤓 #WilliamGibson https://overcast.fm/+AAAkMbMSN5E @incomparable
I read #Neuromancer for the very first time -- for a podcast! (shocker, I know)
I had some thoughts as a first-time reader here in 2025, and @jsnell, @antonyjohnston, @lschmeiser, and @glennf helped me understand the original context and what it was like loving the book at the time (and since). (Antony even wrote an album inspired by it!)

Meat brain: Neuromancer is a story about the dystopia to which we cosign ourselves if we continue on this trajectory of individualism, capitalism, and consumption.
AI brain: Neuromancer is a story about our perpetual striving to overcome our limitations and control that which we are fundamentally, as a species, unsuited to control, and both the inevitability of success and the unintended consequences of that success if done thoughtlessly.
Galaxy-brain: Neuromancer is a story about the Drake equation.
I am reading again the #Neuromancer, and I totally forgot about their stop in #Amsterdam. That flat described could be by location and age my old appartment 🤣 I am wondering if the bar they talk about actually existed and if it is still there. 🤔
