Well! December is here and today I opened an early Christmas present curtesy of the Ontario Disability Support Program (#ODSP).
On the 20th, I received an email telling me I had a letter waiting for me, but because I've been so busy with college I didn't have the chance to look. I checked my bank account today, and discovered I haven't received my ODSP payment for the month of December. So I checked the letter online and what does it say?"I am writing to you about your income support from the Ontario Disability Support Program

So why was my file put on hold? Apparently...
"We did not receive information about your earnings this month."
For context, I had a summer job. I alerted my case worker I would have a summer job, and I was very specific when it would start, and when it would end. She put a note in my file. When I reported my income, in my last email I specifically indicated it was the end of my time there. That was in August. It is now December. What I don't understand is why this is happening now, or indeed at all.

The Liberals never intended to deliver real support that Disability Advocates fought for. The CDB was promised to be adequate, accessible, and clawback-proof. They ignored us. What rolled out is a slap in the face.
The fall budget is their second chance: adopt my former Bill C-422 and fix the CDB—for real.

I haven't been on #ODSP for a few years, but the one thing I don't miss about it is deciding which meal I get to have today. Or, more importantly, which meals I'm skipping for financial reasons. Life hack. For those on #ODSP in the province of #Ontario. Did you know that rides to and from medical appointments are covered? If you take a cab or a rideshare, submit your receipts. As long as they clearly state that they are taking you to a hospital or doctors office or bringing you home from such place, your worker will reimburse your fair. Also, if an abled friend or family member takes you to an appointment where they have to pay for parking, if you submit that receipt the parking fee fees will be covered as well.
