There is little doubt that the #OSG and his minions have deliberately confused the terms #transgenic and #transgender in reference to cancelled funding to hide their cackhanded approach. But one wonders is the damage done in terms of cementing a perception of waste and fraud?
The #OSG is like a child with a hammer, where the whole world looks like a nail. He is a real estate developer approaching a conflict from a realtor's perspective. His perception is two dimensional based on his limited experience.
I fear for the world.
Scouting for Everybody
In opposition to last Monday's executive orders related to DEIA and gender identity, the 6th Woodrunners, a local Minnesota chapter of the Outdoor Service Guides, affirms that we remain committed to inclusion of everyone in scouting.
Our group visited the National Weather Service (NWS). The facility is located in Chanhassen, MN. Since Minnesota is known for the extreme cold winter, we all rely on the NWS for weather forecasting and in many instances, plan our group activities accordingly. The tour include visiting the NWS command center, as well as checking out the equipment and instruments that collect weather data. Thank you National Weather Service for all the work you do!
Our Pathfinders last week worked on the uses of a staff, including as a stretcher.
One of the sections of our program are called Otters. This section is designed for 5-7 year olds, and a group of Otters is referred to a raft. They are taught, through playing and games, some of the basics of scouting and personal safety.
Our Otters recently made a raft flag with each one making their own otter paw.
It's too cold out! So instead, we'll think about our campout a few months ago. Some of us built a tent with sticks, rope, and a tarp. Here are some of our Timberwolves enjoying its shade during lunch.
Scout Fun Fact: Before it became largely decorative in the US, the necker was a practical clothing item, and still is in OSG.
It can be used as a simple rope for a tourniquet or to tie sticks together. It can be folded into a bag or arm sling. Multiple of them with sticks can build a stretcher for a person that needs carried. Finally, when worn it protects your neck from the sun and insects.
We have a meeting this week. It'll be indoors due to the cold.

A small group of our scouts braved the cold today to do a clean up hike at Fort Snelling State Park.
Afterwards, they escaped to the IKEA for lunch.
