Oakland Coliseum

The Oakland Coliseum is/was a baseball stadium with a green field and red clay infield. Many of the games were hosted under clear blue skies on sunny afternoons in Oakland. In their hay days, the Athletics would fill this place with 40 to 50 thousand people. They were also known for having some of the lowest seasonal attendance in the league. Captured during the closing month.

Oakland Coliseum

This is an image of the Oakland Coliseum captured from the rail of the third deck behind home plate looking out towards the bleachers and beyond.
The stands are mostly empty as the ownership has given up on the Bay Area. The field is beautifully manicured with stripes cut into the grass in a nice diamond pattern. The clay of the infield is a light reddish brown.
In the background are the bleachers. Above the bleachers is an area that was once used when the Raiders played at the same location. The retired numbers of the A's players cover the upper deck bleachers.

The #Giants managed to beat the #Athletics today 4-2 to split the Bay Bridge Series for the 2nd & last time (this season & forever more) at the #OaklandColiseum. The Giants also get back to 500 @ 63-63 with the win.

Snell pitched 5 shut out innings but gave up a run in the 6th for the Giants & Sears pitched 6 shut out innings but gave up a HR to Ramos in the 7th to get Snell off the hook for the loss.

The game was tied 1-1 going into the 10th when Encarnacion hit a HR scoring the ghost runner from 2nd & Conforto hit another HR after that to make the score 4-1 going into the bottom of the 10th.👏

Walker, who pitched in the 9th, giving up a single but getting outs on a pop up & 2Ks, was also called on to pitch in the 10th.

Wisely committed an error on a grounder by the 1st batter that scored the ghost runner from 2nd & placed a runner on 1st. Walker walks the 2nd batter & gives up a single to the 3rd batter that loads the bases but then Ks the last 3 batters to end the game. 💩

The Oakland Roots SC has announced that the team will play its 2025 USL Championship season in the Oakland Coliseum. The Roots and Soul will continue to work with the City and County towards an interim stadium on the property adjacent to the Coliseum, with the goal of opening for the 2026 season.
