Wow, I knew that I hadn't many photos of my solar panels, but I know there's at least a couple of short vids with them when I did a panorama of my yard somewhere.

I'll try and dig up some more, but I rarely used the one on the right. The panels on the left are two panels wide and you can gauge how large, or small rather, the entire array was... It powered my entire cabin, 3 Deep freezes where I kept the meat that I killed, one of them a DC freezer - I tried to empty the AC freezers before winter each year because it required a lot of sunlight to run those. My extra large refrigerator was a DC fridge too. There may be pics of that here somewhere as well, or I'll try to screenshot it from a kitchen video.

My garden as you can see, prolly summer 2017, is obviously before I learned the hard way that those cute deer are actually Satan. Eventually, the perimeter of my garden looked like Omaha Beach on D-Day in Normandy with ragged, sharp shards of steel, rebar, and wire fencing guaranteed to impale and break the legs of any deer that dared to jump over the 10' perimeter fence surrounding my garden, which itself was surrounded by a solar powered electrified ribbon fence.

If one does become entangled in that mess, you have to wait for a considerable time until they realize they're fucked and resolve to just calm down and accept their fate - at that time you can shoot them in the heart.

Why? Because if you kill them while the adrenaline is still pumping through their body your venison is going to be less than yummy - to say the least.

So there's other pictures here of my huge, two story cabin, so you can get a picture of just how much those solar panels actually provided me. My battery banks provided enough storage to keep my household running (TV/cellular amp/Internet too) for about 4 days, after which I had to switch to gas or diesel gensets to charge them up.

House lights were a mixture of AC and DC.

I hope that helps!

August 11th, 2020 - My final month on the mountain before the fires of the August Complex came and dashed everything away.

As you can see, my bountiful garden was thriving, with more than I could consume myself - it was wonderful.

18 December 2017, Homeboldt, California.

The joys of cooking with wood fired stoves.

This was my #Stanley_cooker and oven. I even managed to make a couple of cakes in there - now that's a challenge, but once you develop an intimate understanding of working the firebox and valves to maintain the temps you want in the oven, all things are possible.

But it still took about 45 minutes to get a fire going and the stove top hot enough to cook a skillet of πŸ₯“ bacon & 🐣πŸ₯š eggs

cooking breakfast in my wood firedStanley stove. Even a simple breakfast could take 45 minutes to an hour.

You have to get the for going, then hear the stove top while keeping the fire box full of the right amount of oak or madron and Doug fir blends; The Air fuel mixture has to be just right.

with a hand cranked coffee grinder mounted on a wall and a coffee press...

you can truly produce perhaps the best, or at least most appreciated meals ever.

Looking through the poppies in my garden towards my old #cabin in the mountains of #Humboldt, #California.

These were wonderful times... Before the fires of the #August_Complex.

This is one of my fav photos of my old home in the serene isolation of #nature.

I had a few wonderful years here, before having to #evacuate to a world consumed by fear and uncertainty amidst the calamity of the global #Wuhan pandemic.

6 years ago - 01 December 2017, #Humboldt, California.

Collecting as many bucked logs as possible - two or three loads per day of sufficiently seasoned wood while there's still no snow.

First, you fell the trees, then you buck it all up as logs. Several months or a year later, you go back and collect those.

All of the logs are then πŸͺ“ split, and then stacked on the porch and elsewhere.

Nice, dry, Doug Fir, Oak, and Madron for cooking and heating.

This white, old Ford stepside pickup πŸ›» truck probably hasn't been registered in over ten years - it certainly " been on pavement for at least that long.

There's not much point in all that of it never goes on the road.

It's stacked pretty high with large logs from tree trunks and big branches Collecting as many bucked logs as possible - two or three loads per day of sufficiently seasoned wood while there's still no snow.

A wooden bench for two at the edge of the cliff in my backyard; a cliff that plummets hundreds of feet below.

The majestic, magnificent scene before whomever sits to ponder upon that seat extends one's purview by dozens of miles of unadulterated, pristine wilderness.

I say backyard, but that is wreckless - the entirety of what can be seen beyond the cliff is no less my backyard than the hilltops and mountain ranges behind me are that which comprises my front yard - isolated wilderness, all.

Valentine's Day breakfast, 2018.

My wood fired #Stanley_cooker stove and oven.

Everything is better when it's cooked in an #Iron_skillet.

I baked a few cakes in that oven, which is a real challenge - adjusting the type and amount of wood in the firebox as well as the redirect of the heat to the oven box.

It takes constant attention. The first cake, I had to cut out the center, which wasn't done, like a bundt cake.

One skillet, potatoes. The other, bacon and eggs. I prefer using a coffee press to make my coffee, the water of which is boiled on top of this Stanley cooker in the kettle.

Ah... now that was enough wood for about three weeks.

Oak, Doug fir, and Madron, bucked and split and stacked up on my porch like a solid wooden brick, 7Β½' high x12' wide x 6' deep.

That's a lot of fucking fire #wood!

Everything I cooked and all of my heat came from that wood stack.

My "mean and ornery" rooster. I punted him several times cuz he's just didn't learn and always tried to flog me.

Last thing I said to him and the other chickens before the fires of the August Complex incinerated everything shortly after I evacuated the mountain with my cat and whatever I could load into my truck was...

"Good luck".

My "mean and ornery" rooster. I punted him several times cuz he's just didn't learn and always tried to flog me. One of my tame hens would actually place herself between him and I and actually chase him away from me - damdest thing I've ever seen. She got all the kewl treats and I fed her by hand - she was also a really good laying hen.

December 3rd, 2018...

You can see the massive glow in the furnace.

#off_grid in the remote mountain wilderness of Humboldt, California, miles from the nearest humans.
Photo of the furnace in my old cabin in the mountains - it took a lot to keep that place warm.

If you hadn't already stacked 10 curds of wood by November you may very well have fucked yourself. This was my second winter completely off grid there so I was well prepared - but i was still miserably cold all the time.

@tankgrrl

I've heard it's really g-narly, but I'll wait, because I don't have television reception and I like to anyway, and really... I can't stand, and actually have PTSD from when I was a kid and had to listen to, "Same Bat time, same Bat channel", on a black and white television...

Waiting for next week?

I'll just d/l the whole season all at once and invite my friend Jack Daniels over for the entire season in one or two nights πŸ‘―πŸ€ΈπŸ’ƒπŸš€
