Our potted calamansi came back from the brink of death, all lush and green. So now there's a butterfly flitting around it, most likely looking for the perfect leaf to lay its eggs on. I'll be keeping an eye out for those tiny caterpillars again. 🌿🐛

Found these adorable little succulent pots online and, well, I had cuttings to spare

Also figured that if I wanted plants inside my dark hobbit hole of a house I may as well try with relatively undemanding and hard to kill plants 🤷‍♀️

(And of course I dumped everything on the dining room table. It's where the fan is. Stupid summer heat.)

Overhead view of six colorful little succulent pots in shades of blue, pink, and green, containing little cuttings on scindapsus leaves. I'm not really sure what specific scindapsus they are, but they've got blotches of pale green all over their dark leaves. Pretty. The same pots but from a lower sideways anglr, this time showing the lime-green waterproof tarp I spread on the dining table protecting it from the sack of potting soil and aroid mix I used for potting the plants.

Moving the coleus to the upstairs patio finally brought out the plants' colors

TIL from wiki:

"Coleus scutellarioides, under the name Coleus blumei, has been reported to have very mild relaxing and/or hallucinogenic effects when consumed. The effects of the plant have not been scientifically explored in great detail, but the plant is known to have been used by the Mazatec people of southern Mexico for its mind-altering effects."

...REEEEEAAAAALLY NOW 🤔😏🤪

It pained me greatly to modify that title with an asterisk.

well THIS was a pleasant surprise

and I've got THREE more potential buds on the way

this blossom will get even bigger tomorrow if not later today

amazing what moving these pots six feet down the slope can do

I'd initially potted half my in soil and the other half I'd left in water, but after reading online about proper care I thought I'd do it properly

(micans roots are so tiny and delicate it's frightening to even touch them)
(i have no idea what i'm doing)

With the application of professional-grade potting mix, a pole, and garden velcro, this is the result

(i hope the excess roots latch on to the moss pole)
(i hope they don't die)

A short hollow wire pole stuffed with dried sphagnum moss sits in the middle of a small teal ceramic plant pot filled with professional-grade potting mix. Vines to be transplanted into the pot are on the right, and a plastic bag of small pumice stones sit on the left. The plant pot is now covered in vines of dark green velvety leaves, winding around the moss pole, and the soil is now covered with white pumice stones.Plant pot with transplanted vines but from another camera angle.Plant pot with transplanted vines but from another camera angle, this time the back of the pot.

When I started cleaning up the mess my mother's garden had become, two years after her death, I had no idea that she even had this literally buried under dense tree foliage.

I couldn't rescue most of the fronds, bent and broken as they were, so cleared them out to make room for the baby fronds to come out

They apparently grow pretty fast.

How it started/How it ended

An overgrown monarch fern in a large plant pot, its giant fronds flattened by their own weightThe same monarch fern, now stripped of its overgrown and ragged fronts, with only sparse but new growth remaining; three young and very healthy looking fronds dominate the middle of the pot
