🚨 ICE is escalating its war on immigrants in Virginia. In just 3 days, 14 people were detained at the Chesterfield County Courthouse, including the largest single-day courthouse sweep seen in the state since the new administration began.

Many of those detained were there for minor traffic violations like a missed vehicle inspection. Agents waited inside courtrooms in plainclothes, some covering their faces, ambushing people with no warning.

We won’t let them rip apart our communities. Start by protecting those most at risk: share Know Your Rights guides and Rapid Response Toolkits such as those linked below.

But we can’t stop there. These attacks are part of a broader war on Black, Brown, immigrant, and working-class people in a system that thrives by keeping us divided. We must come together across race and nationality to fight back. No more raids. No more deportations.

There’s nothing wasteful about clean water. Nothing ineffective about preventing crises. These repairs keep children safe and hospitals running. Yet the same politicians funding endless wars tell us we can’t afford working pipes.

Local officials had decades to fix this. Instead, they gave priority to corporations and developers while our pipes crumbled. Now they want working people to foot the bill.

We won’t pay for their failures. No more rate hikes on workers. No more Band-Aid fixes. We demand fully funded, modernized water systems under public control—because water is a human right, not a corporate commodity.

On Sunday, the community rallied together in Richmond to let Youngkin know that we will not allow ICE to terrorize our state. We were able to connect with each other, share our personal stories, and spread resources.

EMERGENCY DEFENSE RALLY 🚨

This Sunday we’ll be having an emergency defense rally in Richmond. This is in response to Executive Order 47 signed by Youngkin yesterday, which directed state and local law enforcement & authorities to fully cooperate with ICE.

This targeted attack on immigrants is not only inhumane, it’s a huge waste of time and money. Statistics show that immigrants are far less likely to commit violent crime than non-immigrants. They pay sales tax and often income tax - unlike the super rich. The money used on deportations could be used for things that actually improve lives - replacing our lead water pipes, constructing homes, and feeding people.

The ramping up of ICE and police in our state is not to our benefit, but to the benefit of the billionaire class. The brutalizing and deportation of our loved ones won’t solve the problems in our communities. We need decent housing, better wages, and quality healthcare for all workers including immigrants.

Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority is being sued for neglecting their most vulnerable residents.

A lawsuit was filed against RRHA for allegedly failing to offer a Hardship Exemption to tenants. This exemption offers the ability to not pay rent in times of financial hardship, and federal law says RRHA must give notice if tenants qualify. Yet since 2019, only one hardship exemption has been granted by RRHA.

This is part of a larger issue of RRHA taking advantage of and neglecting their tenants. Housing is a human right and we need systemic change in order to guarantee quality housing for all!

We must stand in solidarity with the inmates at #Virginia super-max prison, Red Onion, who are resisting abusive conditions.

A dozen Black men have reportedly self-immolated with hopes of being transferred to a different facility. Medical neglect, isolation, racism and discrimination are just the beginning of the inhumane environment described at Red Onion.

Red Onion was built with racism, violence, and inequality at its core. Within the current system of #capitalism - the demand for profit, the exploitation of labor, and the dedication to white supremacy will always come before the pursuit of justice.
