Today I was discussing with my youngest this #paintbynumbers that i did some 1,5 years ago.. this was what they offered. These horrible colors.

And then after layer and layer, this is what I ended up with.

Still not satisfied with the mouth but I declare this finished.

Actually this started the conversation. My youngest saying that she likes how I painted the mouth.

Not satisfied but after all I'm no Vermeer..

It's a #PaintByNumbers type game. Probably a good way to relax or to have a low-effort distraction while doing something else... but not for me. (At least not on the PC. Maybe on a phone?)

Did a few pictures over a couple of days, before deciding today that I'm done with it.

For the down times between exercise and during the constant deluges, we wanted to find a new inside hobby to try. I got back to #sketching portraits and Nicky fell into trying #paintbynumbers. The images can be surprisingly complex and detailed, with thousands of tiny shapes to colour that required both glasses and a magnifying light combo to complete accurately. The dishevelled #HighlandCow (80 x 60cm) picture chosen took over 50 hours to finish, over several months. [02-4/24]

We returned to a cold and rainy France and settled back into our normal routine, still filled with warm memories of #Australia. We spent much of wet March #cycling, #trailrunning and ‘enjoying’ cold #Wildswim dips in local lakes when the weather and our motivation allowed. I spent our downtime catching up on #reading and Nicky had a notion to dabble with a #paintbynumbers kit, a colourful portrait of a quirky Highland Cow. { More to follow...)

#paintbynumbers progress: 100% covered but not done. I was afraid of the eyes and mouth. Did them first as recommended and then worked some more.

Eyes are alright but the mouth 🙈 it is sooooo not ok

Art corner for work in progress: 1/3 of a kitchen island full of objects, objects on the floor and two chairs by the wall and a window; outside is dark, the painting is on the window sill, the package is on the chair under the painting; other painting in the box is leaning into the chair, a drawing pad is leaning onto the kitchen island, acrylic paint are in a box on the floor. Evolution of the paint by numbers. Fixed the blue head band and the greenish coat today.

The face needs more work, probably the coat as well, and maybe the blue headband.

Really scared of doing the eyes and mouth..

Also my version feels too flat as yet.

Not 100% satisfied but preety satisfied. I can tell by the dancing (some Spanish rhythms on BBC).

Painting by numbers since yesterday, but the painting is subpar..the tracing is wrong, the colors are soooo wrong.

I already diverged and plan to diverge more..

Paint by numbers tracing of "the girl with a pearl eating", 10% done, blues shades are too lilla; too much brown instead of greenish shades...Paint by numbers, "the girl with a pearl earring" 30% done, face shades are totally wrong.. blue scarf is wrong, greenish dress is wrong.Paint by numbers, 80% filled in but will put another layer with better colors.
