%*$# ICE!

There is a time honored tradition in polite society of substituting punctuation for profanity. For my final photo in this series, I wanted to express a common sentiment, and do it with profanity. I was trying to figure out how to handle that when it occurred to me that the six failed photos from my first pack of Round Frame might hold the answer. Abstract “photos” of nothing could substitute for punctuation. And so we get this. If you squint your eyes, you might see that the failed photos were chosen for a resemblance to the letters of my intended profanity here. %*$# ICE and the ICE KING.

A matrix of eight Polaroid shots, all in circular frames. The top row of four are all abstract, the result of using an old pack and multiple film being ejected. The left three of the bottom row are the letter I, C, and E, taken from an ice vending machine but shot without the red circle overlay. The final shot is a somewhat blurry take on an Ice King vending machine.
Still No ICE

Day 6 of Polaroid Week, and Polaroid Week is only six days long, so these are the last photos for this series. Mint SLR-670X (I-Type) Ming Series, Polaroid Color 600 Round Frame.

No ICE KING

Dude bulldozes the White House because he thinks he’s a king. Yeah, no. No ICE KING, dude. Mint SLR-670X (I-Type) Ming Edition, Polaroid 600 Round Frame.

Double Barrel No ICE

Sometimes you need a bigger box to make the point. Mint SLR-670X (I-Type) Ming Edition, Polaroid 600 Round Frame Film.

Day 4, Image 2, for Polaroid Week. Went out this morning and shot this, as well as most of the remaining shots for this project. Mint SLR-670X (I-Type), Polaroid 600 Round Frame film.

I suppose these are going to be more or less the same photo over and over, but that’s okay. The “NO” symboll (the circle with the line through it) is actually added in-camera. I drew one using Affinity Designer and printed it out on a sheet of Pictorico transparency that I usually use for alt process digital negatives. I cut that down to a size that would let me fit it in the cartridge, but my first test showed it slipped a bit and the graphic was misplaced. I found an old ND filter from my days of using 600 film in unmodified SX-70s and cut the overlay into the same shape and that seems to have (mostly) fixed it. I may want to trim it a little to shift the graphic down a millimeter or three.

No ICE

I had an idea for a theme for Polaroid Week, and no time to execute it. I tried, and found that my original idea only really worked if I used basically the entire output in a single composite image. That was Day 1. That left me with the rest of the week and no photos. I had an idea for a pivot, and one pack of Round Frame, but the pack mostly failed, six frames of random noise and two frames that didn’t quite work. So I had to wait for more film. Adorama got me film in a day. It got here an hour ago. So here are a couple of shots that I took very very recently. Mint SLR-670X I-Type, Polaroid 600 Round Frame. I think you get the message here.

ICE KING

I had an idea for Roid Week, and I sat on it, and then yesterday I saw a post on BlueSky reminding me that it started tomorrow (today) and oh shit, let’s see if I can pull that idea off. I would say I failed. This is the first set of shots, a bag of ice from Ice King shot on No Kings Day. I have another idea along the same lines that I’m going to see if it works today, but for now, this (and one more later). Hasselblad 500cm, Nons new gen instant back, Instax Square film.
