Took a bunch of pictures yesterday out at the Carson Lake and Pasture WMA, here's a few of my favorites.

A small Least Sandpiper moves through some winter brown grass that is growing along the shore of a low lake. The birds brown head and back help it blend in to the muddy ground, while its bright white underside help to see it once spotted. A short black beak is partially open as it looks for food with the white ringed black eye.A Horned Lark stands on the broken stems of a clump of tan reeds that are growing up from a low pond. Its short black feet grip onto the top of the reeds, supporting the small brown body with a white chest and belly. Its head is turned to the right, showing off the distinctive black eye mask and neck ring, with the sunlight making the yellow throat pop. White stripes over its eye that end with slightly upturned black feathers given the bird its name.A white Prairie Falcon perches on the top of a tall power pole that has been repurposed as a gate support. Its speckled brown chest band and wings stand out from the white body, with the noticeable single brown stripe coming down from its dark eye. The pole has barb wire wrapped around it and old sun weathered boards attach to it to form the fence on the left side while a rusty brown metal gate is bolted to it on the right. Tall brown brush fill the background.A tiny American Pipit stands on the edge of a green and white metal T-bar that has fallen to the side. The small bird stands between the notches on the fence post, its brown body with brown speckled white chest and black marks on the wing feathers clear in the sunlight. A small orange beak and dark eye with a white eye ring help to identify this little bird. A weathered wooden fence post is in the foreground and the background is a low pond with clumps of grasses growing above the water.
