Pteranodon (ANIA/Animal Adventure by Takara Tomy)
Takara Tomy is a millennial industry giant of toy production, whose products have probably found their way into everyone’s homes at least once. Naturally, my introduction to the brand came through their ANIA “Animal Adventure” line of palm-sized action figures featuring extant and extinct animal life. Beginning in the early 2010s, Tomy released the ANIA line primarily under small (AS) […]

👻🎃 Happy (early) Halloween! 🎃👻
I’m surprised I haven’t seen this combo before, since Zero from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” looks so eerily similar to #Pteranodon!

Pteranodon (Ultimate Dinosaurs by Yowie Group)
Written by Gwangi
Collectors of extant animals are no doubt familiar with Yowie Group, who have been producing animal figurines for U.S. markets since 2014 and for Australia since 2017. Yowie Group is a relaunch of Cadbury Yowie, which produced toy animals and chocolate in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, before Cadbury and Yowie parted ways. There are quite a few Yowie toy reviews on the blog, but […]

For those of you not into LEGO, LEGO Ideas is a website where users share their builds and, provided the goal of 10,000 supporters is achieved within a time frame, the build has a chance of getting put into production. The subject of this review is one of those lucky […]

I don’t think I ever posted this little #doodle I made back in September!
I saw a #banana on the table that had a cool shape, and it looked like a caricatured #Pteranodon, so here he is!
Guidraco venator (gway-dray-koh ven-ate-or) was an #anhanguerid #pterosaur from the early Cretaceous of China. Its name refers to the Chinese term “gui”, meaning “ghost”, and the Latin word “draco” meaning “dragon”. Its specific name is the Latin word for “hunter”.

#Eopteranodon was previously thought to be related to #toothless #pterosaurs like #Pteranodon, but is now placed comfortably in #Tapejaridae with pterosaurs like #Tupandactylus and #Sinopterus!

This weeks #Lego #FossilFriday is #Pteranodon
Pteranodon was found in 1871 by Othniel Charles Marsh, making it the first pterosaur found outside of Europe.
Originally Marsh called it Pterodactylus oweni, assigning it to the well know, but far smaller, species from Europe.
The issue is that name was already used in 1864, marsh renamed it Pterodactylus occidentalis.
Cope found several specimens around that time and named the Ornithochirus.

Wanted to do something fun with this #Pteranodon and its #colors!
Saw a banana on the table, and it looked like a fun shape for a #Pteranodon head!
