I'm not going back to the Chinese medicine shop off Bay St again until they get rid of their #rats #infestation problem. I saw 2 big rats at their store today. Freaked me out. One climbed up & ran across the front counter - right in front of us!
The larger one I saw run across floor was almost size of small cat. I've never seen a rat that huge. It was seriously massive. Out in broad daylight! Big YIKES! That tells me there is a pretty big infestation there & likely in nearby buildings too. There's an apartment building beside & lots of older homes nearby.
This is in Quadra Village area - very low income neighbourhood. All garbage bins from the low housing project across the street from store were moved to roadside. The housing complex has been fighting off rats infestation in the area for over 2 years now. The housing is joint governments funded & the conditions given to tenants is really dismal. I have visited people who live in them to give them food/over counter meds/other essential needs. Our governments give marginalized peoples less than bare minimum at these housing projects & people end up sicker because of issues like rat infestations & eating foods contaminated by rats & related health issues.
Menace just sunk his fishhooks into my lower lip. Ow.
The next ones are going to get names like "Calmness" and "Serenity"
