#RickBerman

You might see the hashtag #FuckRickBerman floating around, and for very good reason. Not sure why? Take a look. It's pretty fucking horrific. ~J #StarTrek #RickBerman #BermanEraTrek youtu.be/NeSz2gW8IsE

#StarTrekEnterprise s2e22 (2003) - 6/10
Cogenitor, written by #RickBerman and #BrannonBraga.

1️⃣ Another of those earnest-but-dull episodes that the show loves to do. It plods along without every really engaging the audience on an emotional or intellectual level. It has a strong guest cast but mostly gives them nothing to do.

#StarTrekEnterprise s2e18 (2003) - 7/10
The Crossing, teleplay by #RickBerman & #BrannonBraga.

1️⃣ There's an interesting idea here, but it goes nowhere. The episode feels underdeveloped. And, despite a plot where the crew are being taken over, nothing that happens is ever exciting. Plus, there are lots of unanswered questions when the closing credits appear.

2️⃣ A shame because in terms of ideas and visuals it is very impressive. The execution lets it down.

3️⃣ My 784th episode of #StarTrek.

#StarTrekTheNextGeneration s4e3 (1990) - 10/10
Brothers, written by #RickBerman.

1️⃣ The 10-minute section, near the start of this episode, where Data takes control of the Enterprise is one of the very best sequences of the entire series. It's certainly one of my personal favourites.

2️⃣ #BrentSpiner plays three characters in this episode. He is flawless. He always is, of course, but it's really evident when you see him playing three different people in the same scene! For half of the episode!

#StarTrekEnterprise s2e12 (2002) - 9/10
The Catwalk, written by #MikeSussman & #PhyllisStrong.

1️⃣ First very good episode in a long while. Dead Stop (s2e4) was the last one. And it was by the same two writers! 🤔

2️⃣ Also - Unlike most of the offerings in season two, so far, there's no "story by" credit for #RickBerman and #BrannonBraga. Coincidence? 🤔

3️⃣ Whatever the reason, this is a cracking adventure. It delivers a strong central idea, with plenty of peril and twists.

Despite loving #StarTrek, I am only now watching the last few seasons of #Voyager.

I quit watching in large part because I got so irritated with #RickBerman’s misogyny, homophobia, & racism.

And SOMEHOW, NOBODY TOLD ME that #STVoyager got SO MUCH BETTER after Retrospect (S4E17) which was, I think, the last ep I saw. (#BryanFuller is most of what made the difference to the show, but the episode’s pissed me off, as I’d interned in my college’s #RapeEducation center).

Anyway, @JeriLRyan rocks!

So, once again was the reason we couldn't have good things, being 'allergic' to what made so good...
One of 's issues imho was that it wasn't as serialised, and most importantly that things that happened didn't have as much of a lasting effect. Damage almost always was reverted the next episode, shuttles seemed to appear out of nowhere, and photon torpedoes also seemed to be available in limitless supply.
as a season instead of twoparter? Yes, pls
