Edit: The books found a new home.
-----

Anyone here interested in the paperback editions of Ben Aaronovitch's "Rivers of London" and "Moon over Soho"?
I've read them once a number of years ago and would like to give them to someone else.
I'll ship worldwide (from Germany) and want nothing in return. Books and shipping are completely free for you, though probably untracked.

First one to clearly express they want them, gets them.
It goes without saying that I'll need a/your post address, so you need to be willing to give me one. I'll provide an e-mail address for that.

Taking a lunch break from staring at timelines and moving things around like a jigsaw puzzle to think about the family #ttrpg. Based on the Gaming Gang’s recommendation, I grabbed a copy of #RiversOfLondon . It also doesn’t hurt that I loved London during my 50th birthday trip and now really want to run (move… cough cough) a game there. 🎲

Other games were {Helped incinerate one vampire} and {Killed by critical failure after punching the head off a zombie}. Much fun.

Luin uusimman osan Ben Aaronovitchin Rivers of London -sarjasta, Sky and Stone, ja palasinkin nyt ekaa osaan.

@purplelotus13 @arendleejessurun "Little Brother" by Cory Doctorow @pluralistic is a free #book downloadable from Cory's website.

I have the sequel "Homeland" on my TBR pile too. Scarily prophetic for what is happening in USA right now. Maybe not great for hopeful escapism altho I expect a survivable ending cos the next in the series "Attack Surface" has some of the samecharacters.

For weirder escapism I'm also reading Merchant Traders series by Charles Stross @cstross
goodreads.com/series/40515-the

They're portal fiction unlike the James Bond on a budget meets Lovecraft + Brit bureacracy of the #LaundryFiles. The latest ones in the New Management phase may appeal
goodreads.com/series/335314-th

Or the lighter UK X files but police and magic and nicer #RiversOfLondon series by Ben Aaronovitch in #books and comics
goodreads.com/series/51937-riv

I also read cosy mysteries like Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club series.
goodreads.com/series/299267-th

And for total escapism, Georgette Heyers' historical romances. Try The Grand Sophy

I'm currently enjoying the latest Rivers of London book, "Stone and Sky". I thoroughly recommend the whole series, especially the #audiobooks as read by Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, who does a magnificent job of all the voices. #AmReading #RiversOfLondon

Blog - Books in August 2025
delta-pavonis.blogspot.com/202

TL;DR: 8 #books, 2,234 pages, 1 non-fiction, 2 roleplaying, 4 novels & 1 short story collection (latest @clarkesworld magazine). 78 books & 19,886 pages year to date.

Best book: 'Amongst our Weapons', the latest #riversoflondon from Ben Aaronovitch.

Lovely nostalgia revisiting 'Watership Down' by Richard Adams; shades of holidays past.

Best #ttrpg read was #coriolisthegreatdark by Fria Ligan.

Passing through Leominster, not trying to encounter any unicorns in this area. (Also not retracing Peter's steps on account of not having an Asbo.)

“he likes games and he likes meeting people—he’s good at happy,” I say. And for some reason I have to stop and not cry. “That’s rare, isn’t it? You should love him for that.”

I do love Abagail.

And once again, I whole heartedly endorse all the written forms of the series.

Such great characters and inventive world building.

All the good things you've heard are true, so read the short stories and the graphic novels as well as the books.

All wonderfully intertwingled.
