#Rscript

2025-06-10

Hey, Braintrust, I have a scripting question:

We have a number of Excel spreadsheets we post on a recurring basis, and we've managed to automate some of the accessibility functions, like formatting tables & whatnot. We're currently using R sitting on top of SQL queries to generate these spreadsheets. But we haven't figured out how to automate adding alt text, & I'm wondering if anybody else has had occasion to do something like this?

Starting with #RMarkdown is a great way to introduce students to the world of #rstats. It's not just about teaching programming skills, but also about explaining other technologies like #LaTeX, #YAML, #Rnw, #markdown & #Rscript! 💻 And I'm convinced that we should focus on building a small solid foundation (#smallR 🙂 ). Think of base R (aggregate, subset, …), #rdatatable and graphics (#tinyplot) instead of diving straight into popular packages like #tidyverse. Let's keep it simple! Who's with me?

Okay spent a few minutes trimming and primping my #R (#rscript) Calculator server for gui cloud app thin client 47 lines stdin stdout and tiny over the wire to gen this! also the thin client on the other end of the socket doesn't even know about fonts! 252Kb footprint bitbucket.org/timcdoc/antibrow

tiny 47 "line" Rscript uses stdin/stdout to drive a thin client on the other end of a socket, almost no dependencies, certainly no font or x11 dependencies, just xcb C sockets and whatever language you want to use (this is r)

Hi #RStats

I'm excited to share the release of a new package of mine on #CRAN, scribe. Scribe is a package that supports managing #RScript file with an OOP framework of gathering, defining, and processing your command line arguments.

See more in this blog post: jmbarbone.github.io/posts/scri

And let me know which bugs I missed here: github.com/jmbarbone/scribe/is

I'm already learning tips and tricks much more easily with

chat.openai.com/chat

than I've been able to do by reading the documentation 😅

That probably says more about my lack of skills than anything else, but needless to say I'm thoroughly impressed by

Apparently, all you need is to define the question, then you can generate the code.
