The Glasgow Group is an artist's exhibiting group which was formed in the late 1950s.
The Group's latest exhibition at New Glasgow Society gallery, 1307 Argyle Street, opens on Thursday evening, then continues 10am-4pm daily until 8th May.
A new YouTube drone film shows the abandoned and vandalised former Scottish Amicable building at Craigforth, #Stirling
Charles Anderson's 1974 wall relief sculpture has been left abandoned in the concrete shell. According to ArtUK, this stylised history of Stirling was claimed to be the tallest sculpture in the country (40 ft).
Not easy to house a work of that dimension but surely a civic home could be found away from a decrepit space exposed to the rain?
A @DaniGaravelli article on the Alasdair Gray Archive led me to adding info on Scottish sculpture facilities to #wikidata By extension, I began looking at the data on Scottish art spaces and seeing gaps to fill. This query is the current state
The map view is useful for seeing and fixing obvious gaps.
It would be good to better document #ScottishArt places. I'd like more on the ebb-flow of artist-run initiatives, which are often challenged for Wikipedia notability.
Super: Artists of Polish Origin
Exhibition at Pittenweem Arts Festival's gallery on the High Street, until next Sunday.
Exhibiting artists are Remi Jablewski, Marysia Lachowicz, David Mach, Robert Mach, Stephen Ratomski and Gosia Walton.
The cover of "outside right at the sunset gate", a 1994 book by the artist #StevenCampbell, born 19 March 1953 died 15 August 2007. The book is a catalogue with a running story by the artist.
I was hoping to link an article by Michael Bracewell about Campbell, but nae luck, it doesn't seem to be online.
Sorting some piles of books, I came across this 1961 #IanHamiltonFinlay pamphlet, an appropriate find with the centenary exhibitions getting underway.
4 shillings it says on the flyleaf, and a post-decimal 50p pencilled on the inside.
Yesterday was the opening event for "Hag. Knowledge, Power & Alchemy through Craft" a craft exhibition at #Dunfermline Carnegie library. Well worth the visit.
"It’ll Be Ready When It’s Ready" exhibition opening and cookbook launch by artist and illustrator Alex Weir (Smex), at 6pm on Friday 7th at Shape in Newmarket St, #Ayr

I started constructing a query on public #ScottishArt using #Wikidata and #WikimediaCommons but this hits Freedom of Panorama limitations. Sculptures are ok to depict but not painted murals, such as on tenement gable ends.
Anyway this led towards the sculptures by Charles Anderson which gave form to many 1960/70s urban developments. So many have now become lost, or chopped up, though others have been saved and moved by benefactors, eg Rainbow Slides in #Stirling.
Ian Moir at the opening of his Good and Evil exhibition in Pittencrieff House, #Dunfermline
The exhibition can be seen on weekends through February
The "Unbekent" project by Rebecca Scott and Stuart Murphy currently at Narture / MAKE in Newmarket Street in #Ayr has a collage workshop on Saturday and an artist's talk on Sunday.
