Today:
- I had a lovely meetup with my best friend from high school, which doesn’t happen often since we live at opposite ends of the country
- we had a very nice walk around Cornwall Park and avoided some heavy rain
- I cooked dinner for my cousin and her husband (I’m staying with them) and they appreciated that
Today:
- after 2 full-on days of socialising I really appreciated having more time on my own, went on a good walk down to the harbour and back up the hill
- started an unusual book, told from the perspective of an extinct mammoth, and it’s great (Mammoth by Chris Flynn)
- the cousin I’m staying with cooked us some great chilli beans
Today, I:
- got a haircut and the hairdresser and I had a laugh
- signed the TEU pay parity petition and emailed my disgust to all the National MPs on the list the TEU kindly provided
- enjoyed a late afternoon walk in the reserve with my beloved because it was gloriously sunny and warm
Today:
- our morning walk was cold and still, with the promise of a lovely autumnal day
- a friend messaged me to schedule a catch-up over lunch next week
- we had leftover apple crumble for dessert!
Today:
- we had a lovely relaxed long lunch at our friends’ house
- I stewed the apples from Monday and made a scrummy crumble to take along
- we swapped jigsaw puzzles and I am looking forward to starting theirs

- I hung the washing outside in a big wind and brought it in nearly dry just before the first squall of rain arrived
- I made the first pumpkin soup of the season
- Mum came for dinner. Then, since we finished watching Bake Off last week, we started on the Sewing Bee, always fun

- I went to the library, always a pleasure and gives me access to books I can’t afford to buy
- I had a good walk despite the cold wind
- I haven’t had the energy to contribute to Jukebox Friday Night but I’ve enjoyed other people’s choices
Today, I:
- did 9 holes of golf with my hubby before I started work as it was such a nice morning (by ‘did’ I actually mean I pushed the cart and kept score)
- enjoyed a banana with my overnight oats for lunch
- was given some surplus cooking apples by a friend
Today:
- I had a good baking session, with hot bread for lunch
- it’s been a beautiful warm day and I went for a longer walk
- I put in my last-day submission to the Covid Inquiry and was really encouraged to see lots of fedi friends doing the same 💪🏼
Today:
- the weather was gorgeous so my walk was especially nice
- I finished a job in the garden, tidying up where the spent tomato plants had been (half are still going!). I threw around an oat, lupin and mustard seed mix for a green manure and covered it with homemade compost. Now I can leave it until spring planting.
- Mum came for dinner and we watched the final of Bake Off (we’ve been following it at our own slow pace!)
Today:
- I sat in the woodland garden for half an hour, there was nobody else there except the birds and insects and it was so beautiful and peaceful
- I worked in the garden for an hour and it exhausted me but I achieved a lot
- I had a lovely long phone chat with my sister who lives in another city
Today I:
- got the second set of winter sheets washed and dried as it was another gorgeous day
- put the music up loud and danced around the lounge by myself, much to the bemusement of the cat
- accompanied my beloved on a quick courier run around town for his work, just cos

- we had glorious autumn weather, cold at night but still and sunny all day
- I visited a friend who lives in care after a severe stroke. He has a special new chair and is able to be out of bed for the first time in ages. He really enjoyed looking at the paintings in the lounge.
- there were tomatoes and zucchini from the garden for dinner

- I put on my wet weather gear and walked anyway
- my hubby made ANZAC biscuits for the first time and they were yummy
- I made a new recipe for dinner which was very nice, and there are now two meals of the leftovers in the freezer

- I managed to do most of my walk in the dry
- there were leftovers for an easy but delicious dinner
- it’s clean sheets day
Today:
- I had a productive morning in the kitchen, making bread, scones, muffins and soup
- I visited my nephews in their new house and it’s great. Definitely a handyman’s dream but they’ve already started fixing things!
- Mum came for dinner and we watched Bake Off

- I put on my wet weather gear and had an invigorating walk in the wind and rain
- I went to the annual Good Friday family gathering at my sister’s place for homemade hot cross buns
- my niece’s husband gave me 2 heads of garlic from his garden for me to plant and keep the line going while they are overseas. I bought the original bulbs about 20 years ago and shared some with him a few years back!
Today:
- I wrapped up warmly and spent a therapeutic hour pulling the worst weeds out of the worst bit of the garden
- I made a good curry out of vegetables that needed using quickly
- I listened to the new Marlon Williams album again several times - love it. This duet with Lorde is especially beautiful 🤩
With the rise of remote, and gig-work, and non-traditional schedules, the concept of Hump Day has gotten a little fuzzy. Just the same, there remains something satisfying about reaching this mid-week milestone and knowing the weekend is in sight! Donuts!!

Today:
- on my wander through the woodland gardens I saw children on a gnome hunt, a regular school holiday activity there. So much joy and excitement!
- in Mum’s garden I saw from closeup a korimako (bellbird) feeding on bottle brush flowers. It then sang its beautiful song.
- I started reading a new book, which seems promising, after finishing a very good one last night (Fair Rosaline by Natasha Solomons, highly recommend).
